Stunning aeroplane.
Re: McDonnell Phantom FGR2 XT914
Beautiful!!
I remember being on ATC camp on the year 74 and 56 gave up their phantoms. I've got pics somewhere of the small air show/ meet they had at Wattisham and sitting in loads of phantoms and seeing them being thrown around the sky. They lined all the phantoms up they had left in squadron order...really cool.
If memory serves me correctly, a lightning flew with the phantoms during the 2 weeks I was there. I remember because our CO told us to sit and watch it because it was something special we wouldn't ever see again. It was a long time ago, but I'm sure it happened. Silver 56 sqn one I think!
We all met Mark Manwering (apologies, I think I prob spelt that wrong) too and we got our sqn prints signed by him. Still got it somewhere! Tim
