PA474 comes back to life...

ARCo's craftsmanship there for all to see today at Duxford, with PA474 looking absolutely splendid in her new paint. "New" without looking new or toy-like as is the case with some new paint-jobs.

Awesome to be standing barely 30 feet away from her as she wound up to full power, shaking and vibrating against the chocks. What a machine, and how rare to be able to see her living and breathing from such close quarters.

Usual Duxford problem of the sun position made photography challenging, but fairly happy with these:

That, I understand, is still some weeks off. Combination of waiting for parts and a lack of crew currency due to the Dakota only recently returning to airworthiness...

I reckon mid-July at the earliest.

Wide shots have a blue cast to them, but the close-up in #3 is great. Even you can manage sharp pics that close.

The blue cast is interesting - can't fathom a reason for it, first time using my "new" 50D.

An interesting comparison - first is "out of the camera", second is with the blue corrected in Photoshop:

Not sure if this is of any help but I do remember about 3 months after purchasing a 50D from new I had to download an update from Canon to correct a pretty horrendous colour cast, in my case I perceived it as pink/magenta.

Whether that update still exists and is available I don't know?

It sorted the problem out though.

Much better with the edit. Fair play too - I was expecting you to tell me they display correctly on your calibrated iMac.
