Nice to see it's still there. I was there in 2010 and it was under threat then. Looks some more have been taken inside as well. When I went on a Sunday morning I had the place to myself, the uniformed chap on the gate didn't want any money, just waved me through.

It is a bit different now.We too were the only one's there to start with but were charged to get in and extra for having a camera. You also get followed around by staff.we could not get to the storage area no matter what.

Yes, I remember being followed around by a bloke who really wasn't very good at being discrete. The aircraft were spread out over a larger outside area in 2010 but it's good to see the Yak indoors.

Nice set of photos.
Quick question if I may ask.
What are the transport options for visiting the musuem. Did you need a car or would it be possible to visit by public transport to / from the airport ?

Thanks Paul

From the airport you would probably have to get a taxi, just make sure you use one of the yellow cabs and agree a fee beforehand!

From the city it's much easier as there's a metro station about 10 mins walk from the museum.

In 2010 I was staying at the Phoenicia Grand hotel near Baneasa airport and I walked to the museum. It was about 2 miles I think. There was a very old tram that went past it as well. I suspect walking might be quicker though.

I've stayed there! It's an interesting hotel at the weekend as it seems that's where the locals take their mistresses, plus you get a free condom in the room! Not sure I'd want to examine the rooms with a UV light though!
