Flying with Spitfires

Post by Slinger65 »

I was lucky enough to win a Red Letter Day at work a few months back. There were lots of options - meals out, spa days, stadium tours etc etc. There was really only one choice I was ever going to make, and thankfully the Great British weather decided to oblige in spades...

1/ Spitfire MkIX "City of Exeter"

Apparently the Old Warden UP-W had gone tech, so instead we were treated to this beauty...

2/ Hurricane MkXI P2921

Crossing the Channel coast on a glorious late summer morning, with Portsmouth out in the distance, the imagination could easily wander back to times when many more eyes would have been scanning those skies for Spitfires and Hurricanes, with distinctly less friendly intentions.
