VC10 Preservation Group Engine Run 25.02.18

Post by MUSTANG »

Clear skies but very cold weather greeted the first VC10 Preservation Group public event, with ZD241 firing up her 4 Conway engines for the first time since Nov 2017 (although not full power, but felt like it). Never been on the VC10 before and it was nice to get a chance to have a look around. A good start to hopefully many more events from the VC10 Group, there is a possible night shoot later in the year (although no date is fixed at moment) and the chance to ride the aircraft when it powers down to runway at events. Also mentioned was the CWJ events may take place at the other end of the runway this year (do not shoot the messenger if wrong).

Thanks for sharing these Peter; we particularly like the one of Tommy looking up at the engine with the TPI (tailplane trim) being exercised. As you all know she's a very live jet and in good condition and behaved really nicely for the event. We hope to do something similar later in the year (although we plan to run the jet in late October/November, we may try to obtain a summer - warmer - slot!) having taken the feedback we received on the day. After all, the opportunity we offer is fairly unique and we aim to give all our visitors an experience the enjoy and don't forget.

As for the immediate future, standby for an update on the CWJ Open Day.

It was nice first event (although cold) nothing like 4 Conway's blasting away....did you fix the leak ? It would be nice to see the group picture taken at the end of the day.
