Duxford March Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 2~21Mar18*

Postby Pen Pusher on Tue 13 Mar 2018, 7:44 pm

A bit of a war bird day at Duxford. TFC's T.20 Sea Fury went up for 3 long flights while I was there to accrue the hours for a full CofA and there was a spot of aerobatics after the third flight. Aero Legends were at Duxford and Spitfire HFIX/TD314 got as far as doing power checks and developed a problem and went back to ARCo for a bit of TLC and a short time later their Spitfire T.Mk9/NH341 took to the air for a short handling flight. The boys from Retrotec were in Hangar 3 preparing the DH-9 for its first flight but there needs to be engine runs first before that happens. Photos in order taken.

Only went to Duxford today to take advantage of the blue sky, sunshine and the unseasonably warm temperature before the mini ice age descends on the UK this weekend. Again. T.20 Sea Fury went flying for about 40 minutes with a very nice aerobatic display over the airfield on its return. Apart from that it was very quiet. Photos in the order taken.

Despite a packed Duxford, cars and visitors mainly for the H&H Car Auction in AirSpace, it was reasonably quiet flying wise although there were quite a few GA's types visiting. Two-seat Spitfire/PV202 did a couple of circuits in the morning and the T.20 Sea Fury went up for a longish flight in the afternoon. Some of the ARCo fleet in hangar 2 & 3 spent a brief time out in the sunshine while a couple of aircraft were extracted. In the order taken.

That was lucky! The number of times that I've been to Calshot and seen nothing. Well, nothing except some ships of various types! Oh, and an American Super Carrier in the far distance.

The float plane is apparently inside AirSpace for an event.
