Flames, Turbines and Pistons

Post by CameronSys »

Yesterday, an engine run was performed on the De Havilland Vampire T.11, at Coventry, after some avionics work:

Some other activity at the airport over the last fortnight included DC3 engine running and crew currency flying, as well as some JP5 training

Nice to see G-AMPY out and about, hopefully she'll be at a few shows this year.

What's happening with WR470?

Sadly doubtful you’ll see AMPY at any shows this year, still on a contract for pollution control.

WR470 was sold a few months ago, not exactly sure what the future holds for it, but a ship wouldn’t surprise me

In one way, a great shame, as it looks gorgeous and would be really well received at airshows. On the other hand, I love that we've still got a Dakota doing rough and ready "workhorse" duties. It's somehow endearing.

Good shots as per, Cameron.

Thanks Tommy, there’s set to be a good amount of action here during May so many more photos to come.

It’s good that AMPY is still working, and fingers crossed it gets to stay here for shows once the contract is up

Thanks Ian. Really hope the Venom stays on these shores, but I'm not confident of that

Nope no singed hair here! Keeping a safe distance, and upwind, does help somewhat
