Le Bourget Air and Space Museum

Post by DriesE »

On our way back from La Ferté Alais, we made a stop at the Le Bourget museum. Despite some sections being closed for renovation and the very difficult light conditions inside, the museum is definitely worth a visit. Lots of 'French-only' prototypes  .

If only there would be an aircraft to stick this engine to...

A place I would love to go to some day, the Griffon is certainly a bit of a minger up against the Mirage III, but great to see along with the Mirage IIIV as well. Always loved the 4000, wish they had gone into service, imagine those in French AF camos  and great to see the DC8 as well. Terrific post

I'm still trying to work out the aircraft in the first pic though on the right, it sort of looks familiar? :dizzy:

You mean the one on the right that looks like a 1946 SO 6000 'Triton'? It's got really futuristic cockpit glazing, very Jules Verne, as was the Victor Bomber of course.

It's a great museum to visit, and relatively easy to get to from central Paris on the train too. Good photos, brought back happy memories!
