Brunty CWJ 27th May 18

Post by CameronSys »

With a high number of cars being parked on the eastern end of the runway, this Cold War Jets Open Day took place on the western end - allowing for different photographic oppurtunities, and a decluttered background. Despite the forecast of heavy thunderstorms all day, the dedicated teams keeping the jets going continued with the event, and it ended up being sunny for most of the day too! A fantastic day.

Firstly, some morning static aircraft:

The VC-10 started the show and was impressive to see and hear up close, especially while returning to parking

The Delfin and Iskra followed, putting on two very spritely taxy runs

The Buccaneer Aviation Group were next to take to the runway, and showed the unique looking-aircraft perfectly

The Hunter GA.11 fired two cartridges in attempts to start, however didnt manage to, so was towed back

It was good to see the DH Comet back in action after some time out of taxying

The Canberra ran flawlessly, getting nice and close on the slow taxy runs

After the failed GA.11 run, there was still a fast-taxying Hunter showing, in the form of the T7

With some time on type, I've got a fondness for JPs, so it was fantastic to see the pair of Mk.3 and Mk.5 taxying together

And finally, after a short and sharp shower, the Victor did its bit for the upkeep of the trees along the runway.. and then went for a high power taxy

Cheers to all involved for a great event!

Great set, that end of the runway is a great improvement as a photographic background to the usual location! do you think that is likely to be the new location for the next event?
