Ironbird 787 mission A-A

Not easy, but i managed to get myself flying next to a 787 that was only 6 day's operational!

not only that but for 30 minutes; about 15 backlit ;-(

I requested a 'wingman" missed approach from the coastline to Oostende airport Belgium; it did work out but the tower was like;
you wan tto do what??

When the 787 Captain retracted the landing gear and added a little power,
he was gone! We had to request him to ease on the speed, as we were already redlining the photoship!

Amazing seeing this "beauty" cut through the sky, and those wingtips flying above the fuselage; wow!

Superb photos, and actually very nice subtle watermarks.....you can still look at the pictures and not notice them until second glance.

Great photos. I'm sure the technical/designer bods have done their stuff but seeing how the wings have flexed in the photos doesn't want me to book a flight on one too soon!

With regards to your comments about being questioned by ATC I myself work at an airport and often think things would be soooo much better if people (professional as they are) understood the thought processes of a photographer.

It's a lot less obvious in these photos, I think it was just the size and the fact you'd made it look like part of the aircraft, rather than a watermark, that was the issue

after 30 tense minutes of formation flying at slow speed, the Captain of the 787 called for break formation,
and ended the photoflight by increasing his airspeed to a more comfortable level.

We all landed and we parked our photoship next to the big 787 on the "big aircraft" tarmac )
The memory of the flight is even better than the pictures!
