3 days at Anchorage - cargo, classics and more

Postby sovietjet on Thu 23 Jun 2016, 3:54 pm

I don’t hang out in the civil forum as much but I’ll share with you the best of my photos from three days of spotting at Anchorage Ted Stevens airport from the beginning of May earlier this year. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this airport. I can't even describe how great this place is. Superb spotting locations elevated above the fence, sun from 5AM to 11PM, amazing scenery and backgrounds, no trouble with police, and SO MUCH cargo traffic. This place is 747 heaven. But that is a fraction of it. There is so much rare and classic stuff which you will only find here. DC-10? DC-9? Sure. How about some DC-6? No problem. There is even scheduled DC-3 traffic!! Then there are plenty of 737-200 movements. There are civilian C-130. And other classic stuff like G-III bizjets, Sa227s and other regional turboprops, Boeing 737-400 and 400 Combis and etc. And the unexpected. In three days I got two separate An-124s and the Boeing Dreamlifter. Plenty to see! In my opinion everyone should try to make it here. And the cherry on top is Lake Hood, right next to ANC, with all the seaplanes taking off from the lake offering superb photo opportunities.

Really interesting selection and lovely shots  .

I'm going to be there (very) briefly late in July so it'll be a case of how long I'm allowed to spend at the airport

Amazing, I must get out there before it's too late to see some of that stuff.
