While on a birding holiday in Shetland I ended up next to Sumburgh Airport a few times. It's a surprisingly active place with several operators supporting the oil industry offshore with S-92s (plus Bristow operating the Coastguard contract) and traffic to and from Aberdeen providing the mainland link in the chain. With some birds proving elusive I had time for my attention to wander....

An interesting selection of not often seen operators (well unless you live there). I do quite like no. 4.

Thank you! Sumburgh is an interesting airport: the main runway has a hill at each end while the cross runway has the sea at each end. Both make for interesting approaches and departures. Not really an issue for the choppers except in poor weather.

Great to see something from there, it's on by bucketlist.
