Well you get my vote for UKAR post of 2014.

Oh for the days before those grubby little H&S people got their hands on everything. No high viz, no blue and white or dayglo and white cones, no barriers. Not sure about the guy with the cigarette alongside the Victor which shortly after presumably fuelled is flying.

The Diables Rouges were brilliant. I remember therir entrance at Biggin over the crowd when everybody ducked and nobody wrote letters to the Times about it.

As for the Meteor, I don't have words, airshow flying as I'd like to see it now.

I am glad that I don't feel obliged to wear a jacket and tie to an airshow now.

What a great find Mr S. The whole event looked er.. informal! a classic era.

I think that may be Patrouille de France in at least some of the team shots.

Great great stuff.

The Meteor is just bonkers, don't think he'd get a Farnborough slot. The Cannuck is almost as bad, how low are some of those pull outs?

But those 74sqn Lightnings   Could do with some cones to keep those people back though

Cheers gents, I thought it might invite some comments - quite a show eh and look at all that dayglo! Quite unbelievable - even down to the taxying Victor dashing past all those servicemen as if bashing their heads as it goes by! Not even an ear defender in sight.

The PdF were still flying the Mystere in '63 Nige, converting to the Maggy in '64, now I would like to have seen them with that mount!

Out of interest, when did Airshows begin to cease to feel like this? When was "year cone?"

The Reds used to operate quite low but hitting that dingys mast seemed to stop that.

The randomly dubbed sound effects are amusing though, the overhead airliner whine for the Victor and engine running on the ground "Jet Ranger" when the S-58 is displaying are over convincing.

Do you think that KB-50/B-66/F-101/F-100 formation ever landed or just flew for infinity linked up around every air event in Europe?

Yes it did. Previously Synchro were cleared down to 35 feet but, after that, the minimum became 100 feet.

But that wasn't the Reds fault was it IIRC? The yacht had "inadvertantly" strayed into the no go display zone...

The story, as related by one of the Reds involved, is told in the 50 Years Of The Red Arrows book (out now! :win: ) but in essence, no, the pilot wasn't blamed for what happened...
