don't know if this is the right place ? but as its a Legend but not flying what's happened to the French B17 Pink Lady. A Google search says that it was grounded in 2007 but i watched it fly in 2009 ! which was possibly the last time it came to Legends. Another report says its at Ferté Alais being restored but i haven't seen any pictures or news to say it is or isn't true unlike the restoration of the Duxford B17 !

Pink Lady is indeed at La Ferte Alais tucked away in the new hangar. Last I heard she was grounded until further notice with the possibility of return to flight in the distant future. But somebody else may be able to give more info.

I believe she was grounded due to excessive insurance costs and restrictions. But others may know more. The fact that she has not now flown for a few years will make it that more difficult to return her to airworthiness.

Last time she flew was to Prague for the filming of Red Tails I believe.

The plan was to have the new hangar built at La Ferte, with ambition to get her flying in a few years. I believe that the runway has also been extended which will allow her to operate from there now. Would be great to see a b17 operating off a grass runway!

What's the situation with TFC's Gladiator, G-GLAD? Surely that should be on the list?

No word on the matte black F4U-5NL Corsair from Meier Motors either this year.

I was hoping to get three Corsairs in the air this at Legend this year.

I have been looking forward to Legends for some time after being in the US for six weeks. It is shaping up to be another great Legends weekend!

Lance, there has been no announcement from TFC on the Corsairs, could still easily get 3.

I'm a bit slow with this reply but I haven't checked this thread for a while.

Not quite sure if the Breitling Wingwalkers actually fit in at Legend either!

Why not? The name of the show is "Flying Legends" not "World War Two Piston Engined Warbird Flying Legends". Civilian (and/or civilianised) aircraft such as the Brietling's Stearmans can be just as much "legends" as military examples.

If "barnstorming" Stearmans are not "flying legends" then I do not know what is, especially given that (as far as I am aware) there are no flying Curtiss Jennies (even more of a "flying legend" than the Stearman and possibly more appropriate for the barnstorming role) in the UK or even in Europe.

Then again, actually enjoying a display by such aircraft and crews should not be allowed to detract from the serious business of capturing "topside shots" of "real warbirds" should it?

Above all it is Stephen Grey's show and he can invite or exlude any aircraft he wishes.

P.S. I'm really chuffed about the return of the P-38 and the appearance by the Sikorsky. :yahoo: I was unable to see (let alone photograph) the latter when it last visited Duxford due to ill health.

I just asked on there facebook page if the Corsair is coming just wait and see what the say now, wonder if any containers will turn up one with a silver P40 in  As I only just read though the flying legends book from last year and the bit with P40s in says the TFC have P-40B, P-40C, P-40M, P-40N and P-40F, most of which are either in the process of restoration or have been completed, Be good if some of the spitfires were from Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar Ltd

Well said phreakf4

Ooooooooh!

Flying Legends is marketed as Europe's Premier Warbird Event. I'd argue that the Stearmans are part of a modern display team, with a modern sponsor in a modern livery that don't really do barnstorming to be fair, they do wing walking. Yes, I know the Flying Bulls fit into that as well (obviously not the wingwalking bit), but the P-38 and Corsair are a bit more rare and unique.

On the upside though I have just ordered my Keep Calm and Picnic hamper.

Normally the French example "Bookey Nookey" is normally their. I can imagine that the Meir Motors 2 seat might be their aswell as it has done over the past few years.
