Was due to be the New Zealand 757, but that was before the operational tasking of the bomber command memorial unveiling had it in the UK to coincide with Waddington, so they got it's one UK appearance.

Hi again, I just went onto the Dux website to see if there had been any change to the participation list.... The actual PDF hasn't been updated since 13th June still, BUT on the actual Dux airshow page it says that the Vulcan is coming to display on the Saturday? I have re-read it 20 times now and it definately says that... Am I seeing things? Does anybody know if it's really true? I don't want to get my hopes up lol... Also on the Vulcan display dates page it doens't mention Dux atall.. Could it be that it just hasn't been updated yet? Thanks for any help.. :D

It certainly says they have booked the Vulcan for Saturday (although they have typo'd the serial):

The Duxford Air Show is the highlight of Duxford’s calendar of flying events. In an outstanding aerial spectacle, the very best historic and modern aircraft display in the skies over this famous airfield. Featuring civilian and military aircraft, the Duxford Air Show always presents a fantastically varied programme with some distinctive and popular flying performances.

Confirmed flying participation to date includes Vulcan XH588 on Saturday only, the Aerostars on Saturday only, the Red Arrows on Sunday only, a pair of Tornado GR4s, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota and a host of thrilling historic and contemporary aircraft.

It's not on the PDF list, nor is it on the TVOC calendar tough.

Blimey! Expect a very lop-sided attendance across the two days, then! :snack:

Has the Vulcan ever been to Duxford? I've only been going to airshows for the last 3 years.. would it be able to take off from Dux does anybody know? Thanks again.

A Vulcan has displayed at Duxford before and I doubt very much it will be operating from Duxford.

It's displayed there once since the 2007 restoration - at the 2008 September show, I believe - then failed to display on the show's second day (weather en route from Southport?), and hasn't been booked since.

Probably the money saved from the Tornado demo role explosions and used that on the Vulcan. Or the MiG turning up now

Is that confirmed now then? No pyro with the Tornado s? Not that it matters, they're still awesome. :)

I believe the museum looked seriously at having the wizz bangs but the risk assessment came out on the low acceptable side so the museum have taken the decision not to have them.

Hi Sezzy and Brian,
Unfortunately, there will be no pyro's at Duxford due to some of the problems already mentioned by Brian and Damien on another thread. No risk assessment had actually been sent to the organisers as the preliminary discussions revealed that there may not be enough space between the hard runway (the southern edge of it is also the display line) and the farmers crops, plus the visiting aircraft that are expected to be parked in this area. We would need to be at least 50 metres back from the hard runway (which is going to be used during the display) but this would put us far too close to the fields and people viewing over this side of the airfield. Thanks
Kieron

I've noticed a few airshows have this now, i was wondering why do the red arrows never display as the same day as the vulcan

@Airshowhammer ~ they're both major crowd pullers; so for a two-day show, it makes sense for the organisers to spread their major assets and thus spread attendance over both days.

My copy & pasting always comes out wrong so I'll let somebody else do that. ;)

I see they still can't spell Buchon . The Sabre hasn't got it's engine back as yet, hence static.

The BoB Buchon with JR in it and the Mk.1A Spitfire with 'Rats' piloting it were practicing an airfield attack routine today. The Buchon doing a few strafing runs with the Spit coming in later and after a bit of a tail chase, chasing it off. Hopefully for the show.

Looking forward to the T-33 :D

I've been watching videos of the Vulcan this year.. I am super excited about seeing it, but every video I see, I cry.. Haha. Must stop this, really really don't want to cry.. Like I did when we had all the spitfires in their supreme dispaly & tail chase at the BoB memorial show (although, I wasn't the only one!)

Maybe the more videos I watch, the less chance I have of balling at the actual show? I hope!
