Love Duxford, it might not be everything one may wish for, and for the "experts", but keeping it alive is very important and transcends any momentary short fall. This show is shaping up.

According to an email I received this week to remind me, I understand that Early Bird ticket booking ceases from midnight tonight (17th).

No senior tickets - that's a strange one - never heard of senior tickets ever selling out somewhere, or is this a new ploy to get more people to buy full adult priced tickets??

It's a new ploy by the Museum. Senior tickets are available for Flying Legends though.

We have a sneaky feeling that they will eventually do away with Senior Friends of Duxford as well so one price fits all.

Wow that's harsh! Considering amount of ex-service people that attend airshows.

Afaik the Sea Vixen can only operate out of Yeovilton due to the different support equipment required, but happy to be proven wrong.

Its operated out of Biggin Hill and Kemble in the past, but if this is a new thing then I don't know.

The Sea Vixen has never operated from Duxford, in 2001 I believe it flew out of Cambridge (joining the Venom and Vampire, both of which were at Duxford).

There's some nice stuff on the list, sure, but I can't say the line-up is getting my pulse racing and for the first time in ages, I'll be doing just one day. Three based fighters leaves the warbird content thin on the ground.

Credit to nabbing the Rafale though!

Facebook post saying that's it for the line up.

I'm sure the lack of warbirds is intentional to make it a different show from Legends and the Sept BoB show.

Get there early to avoid the traffic, i.e. close to opening time. You'll have the entire museum to explore so plenty to keep you occupied.

I'm not sure we have many fools on this forum? :cuppa:

Now if it was 'a moaner and his money are soon parted', well Duxford would be coining it in....

Imagine the scene.... i've got my ticket, i'm sorted

Excuse me sir that ticket is fine but you have to pay extra to park... hmmmm

Excuse me sir but these aircraft that you have paid to see... well you can't see them any closer on static unless you pay me another wedge... hmmmm

I think i'll forgo any food or drink or a programme or a donation to the vulcan or a donation to 'insert about 20 different charities'

Yes Duxford is expensive but other than the ticket you don't have to pay for any of the other things, there's a free park and ride service (it'll cost a £1 to park).

I'm not overly happy about the parking charge, but I'll probably pay it whenever I next decide to go to a Duxford airshow, just for the convenience. The programmes aren't bad at Duxford, certainly much better than the rip-off programme you get at RIAT.

I will be going myself but i certainly begrudge the extras, especially the parking. Not sure which day yet, will make a decision later based on a mid range weather forecast.. and if they sell out.. well i'll take my chances off base

made?

Apart from a programme and lunch and if it's a hot day, cold drinks, I spend very little at a Duxford air show.

Motorbike so don't pay for parking.

Don't need to do the flight line walk as I can see them on arrival and departures.

Does anyone know if path that runs along the 06 end (90 degrees to the runway) would be closed off during the show? Planning to watch the show outside the base on the Saturday (Inside for the Sun). Feel free to PM if necessary.

If anyone gets a heads up when/if the Rafale does a practice display, I'd appreciate it being posted on here. Doesn't look like I'll get a chance to go to the show but have the week off and would love to see it!
