On Remembrance Sunday, IWM Duxford will be holding a very special service of remembrance. Admission to the Museum is free for all on this day. We very much hope that people will take this opportunity to explore Duxford on the day when members of the Armed Forces, who have lost their lives in active service, are remembered worldwide. The service of remembrance will be held at 12.30pm.
Timetable for the Day
10.00am - 3.00pm - IWM Duxford's Department for Learning will be in the foyer of AirSpace and will give families the opportunity to read the story of we use the poppy as a symbol of remembrance. Children will be able to make their own poppy or make a stained glass window.
11.10am - Candle lighting ceremony in the American Air Museum to remember the US Forces who fought and died in the Second World War and to honour the US service personnel who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice.
12.30pm - Remembrance Service, immediately preceded by a marching display featuring Sawston Youth Group Band with local air cadets. Service to be held on the Hangar Base. In case of inclement weather, the location of the service will be announced on the day.
The Imperial War Museum Family History Group will be on hand to answer questions regarding tracing family history.
Imperial War Museum Duxford is open 10.00am to 4.00pm.
