cheers for the info on the 5 ship. Wonder what that one other heading north is. My money is on either a spit or a stang.

here at DX, apparently the Magister is coming in along with a Jungmeister, and a Jungmann shortly. There is also a huge frame being put up where the old hangar use to be.

Wasn't as busy as I'd hoped but the Yaks are very impressive and it was great to see the Bearcat back in the air. Stephen Grey certainly seemed to be enjoying himeslf flying her.
Cheers to Elliot for the :icecream:

hi guys,

having bought my tickets to attend my first ever Legends a few months ago, i was dead set on attending whatever the weather and participants. I got a Sunday ticket - in my experience airshows always seem to be better on the 2nd day for some reason

Since i found this thread, i've been getting more and more excited for what to expect on Sunday - so guys, thanks for that! However, as i'm a Legends virgin, can i ask a few questions to get some advice from the regular attendees?
  • travelling from Oxfordshire, would the M25/M11 route be best, or should i route via Milton Keynes on the A505?
  • the mrs. and daughter will be in tow (somebody need to haul my camera stuff around!), so bearing that in mind, and arriving early (8am-ish), where would be best to set our selves down for the best view of the action
and finally
  • are there generally any objections to taking folding chairs, finding a location, setting them out and then popping off to visit the museums, then later return to the 'base camp' before the flying display kicks off?

well, i think thats me for now, thanks so much for the info on this thread, it's great to have some hint of an idea of what to expect from my first (and certainly not my last) Flying Legends!

If you are getting there that early the M11 route would be absolutely fine. After 10 it sometimes backs up down the slip roads. If you use the car park on the airfield side (as you will see there is a second car park which is across the road that goes past the museums entrance) then there is a long stretch of fence that goes from the Land Warfare hall and up to the American Air Museum before any enclosure tents start - so anywhere along there will give you a good view of the flying and the taxiing. The hill in front of the Land Warfare hall can get quite crowded though so your family might not be the most comfortable around there. Finally; there havn't been any reports of theft when people leave chairs to reserve a space (though it can't hurt to tie your chairs to the fence!) but I would make sure someone is occupying your space from 11ish onwads as you may return to find you have been crowded out.

You won't regret paying those hard earned ££'s for this mate - the experience is mind blowing.
