Accommodation near Duxford

Post by timuss »

Any recommendations on places that are reasonably cheap and fairly close to DX??? Really enjoyed it yesterday but am mighty peed off that i cocked up a load of my pictures and being able to go for a second day would have given me the chance to ammend that.

Thinking about doing both days next year would it be the same dates???

Best bet would be either Travelodge or Premier Inn's, both in Cambridge.

The Travelodge in Cambridge would be my best bet, its on the leisure park, so you've got a bowling alley, restraurants, cinema etc on site.

Premier Inn is north of Cambridge just off the A14. And if you need to get anywhere for a bite to eat, it's jump in the car time.

Days Inn, cheap but very nice, lots of onsite things to do in the evening and won't be hugely booked up as it's about 15 miles from Duxford.

Days Inn Stevenage North
Extra Services Jct 10 A1M
Radwell, SG7 5TR UK
Phone: 01462-730598

Cost me £28 for a twin room at Duxford last year and that was booked only a couple of weeks in advance. A couple of guys from here stayed there too and seemed happy.

Flying Legends 2011 is 9th & 10th July.

The "Holiday Inn Extra" in Whittlesford, I would think, will be open intime for next years Flying Leg-ends.

The Travelodge in Cambridge is virtually on the other side of the tracks to the rail station and is on the Citi7 bus route to Duxford and if you cross over the rail bridge, it's a short walk to the station where you can get the free shuttle bus on air show days.
