The mound is a safe distance yes, a good distance back from the runway. It's not in a dangerous position, and if it was - why would they park the fire crews there? You're in line with the airfield perimeter and on the display line so you have the aircraft coming low and fast head on at you - which is an experience!

Not convinced by your argument it's not dangerous if you also say it's on the display line and the aircraft are coming low and fast head on to you. From the sounds of that you are one misjudged low pass from the close up to end all close ups!

The fire crew parking argument also needs work. In my experience fire vehicles like to park in proximity to where they might be needed.

I have no strong views either way and have stood under display lines in my time but this idea that an area which the CAA (and the organiser) would prefer not to be occupied is actually safe/not dangerous etc etc needs a better argument than most are putting forward.

Not sure if the view is better or not, you do get some different angles being in the middle of the display box and the lighting is naturally better, in the main though you are a bit closer - but run the risk of being sucked into a Sabre apparently!

Thats such a funny photo LOL

I'm going to try the N field this year! But I haven't a clue how to get there...
