Re: Flying Legends 2012
You wouldn't be able to make a video like that so far today! Aside from the thrilling practice display by the P-47 "Snafu" there has been very little of note. The Nimrod was again on the field trying to solve an engine problem but they believe they have now solved it. Right now there is nothing at all out on the field and no arrivals so far. This is usually what the Wednesday is like!

I saw the Lancaster heading south as I was eating lunch. Way, way, way, way, way off to the west though. You could hear it more than you could see it.

The Mustang won't do what a Spitfire does, but it does it over Berlin.

Re: Flying Legends 2012
So that was two war birds flying today
I forgot to mention the Chinook. Flew through west to east and then asked if he could come around again and as he did he pulled up and literally did a wing over before heading south and the Belgian Air Force flew through as well. Only a pair of SIAI Marchetti SF.260

Also had the SF.260s fly through here. Saw the five GR.4s, and a number of mil copters as well. Been busy in Cambs!

Sorry, excellent week for TFC, aeroplanes fly, great practice displays, a few tech issues, all pretty much sorted tonight (another late evening for the engineers and another early start....), everyone had a great day- if you ever owned an old English car you would understand! We have been so busy we have struggled to add pictures to the TFC diary, sorry about that.
We have worked out that the aircraft like a bit of encouragment so please cheer them as they are pulled out for practice flights, aircraft have feelings you know!
I was on about the recent tech issues but glad they got them sorted out. No I don't own a classic car but I do know about running steam locomotives.
Edit: Hope we don't get the storms the north got!

Well it's quite dull and windy just North of Duxford at the moment. The cloud cover is quite low as well so practices may be reduced but let's hope that changes!

classicaviation is doing a great job on Twitter of keeping people updated with arrivals. So far the Lufthansa Ju-52 and a Dutch DC-3 (neither on the last published participation list) have arrived, as well as a few others.

If those two Dutch passages don't show up

Re: Flying Legends 2012
The last 5 hours or so made up for what was a slow and worrying morning!
R. Lake's Buchon, Spit XVI, Spit VIII, TF-51, Ju-52, Skyraider all practiced this afternoon. SNAFU was also active today, departing with TFC's TF-51D before coming back for a formation loop and run and break.
Expect some arrivals tomorrow morning.

So there is a Dutch as well as a Norwegian Dakota at Duxford then?
Snafu And Miss Vilma went up for a photoshoot I believe and the P-38 went up for a photo shoot as well but no aerobatics on its return.

Yep, my error - it seems I can't read people's twitter posts!
Re: Flying Legends 2012
What's the weather like in that neck of the woods at the mo? Also, can we expect an updated and final participation list before the event?
Re: Flying Legends 2012
Weather is clear but still quite windy.
The final list is published. You'll just have to wait and purchase the programme tomorrow.

Re: Flying Legends 2012
A programme that has one of my photos of Snafu in it.
It rained this morning but cleared in the afternoon to patchy blue sky and sunshine. Basically the same forecast for tomorrow. The wind was blowing across the runway but did veer around a bit to along the runway and the tower had said that it had gusted to 30Kts at one point. This didn't stop anything from flying and even the Fokker and Sopwith triplanes flew in although the landings looked interesting.
