Hard to do anything about the date clash when it seems that RIAT have moved their date one week earlier than this year, presumably in order to avoid a clash with Farnborough. The weekend before Legends is generally Waddington, so whichever weekend it is held in July, Legends will clash with another major airshow. I know which one I'll be attending though!

I did speak to quite a few foreign visitors at Legends who came across to do both shows. The Sunday Legends on the year that RIAT was cancelled was noticxably busier than the Saturday due to the RIAT crowd going to Legends instead, so I suspect that there is quite a crossover amongst the 'enthusiast' population between the two events.

Didn't they delay Legends a week in 2012 to avoid this same problem?

I'd have thought a clash with Farnborough is less of an issue than a clash with RIAT.

No contest! The only place to be next July will be War and Peace at Folkestone racecourse which will also be commemorating 100 years of the outbreak of WW1.

Aren't the Museum holding a 2-day D-Day show at the end of May next year?

I was considering coming back to the UK from America, to attend both Duxford Legends and RIAT like I did in 2011. But now I see they are on the same weekend, which isn't good. So can anyone tell me what air shows are either the weekend before or the weekend after the 2014 RIAT?

As someone who usually does both shows, this just seems absurd to me and entirely avoidable :wall: . As I always stay in Cheltenham after RIAT but can get to Duxford easily from home, I'll have to give Legends a miss next year, disappointing though that is. It just comes across as a clash of egos - sad.

It is avoidable. Stop RIAT from changing their dates.

Legends and riat for me this year
This year was my first legends and loved it. Had hoped to do Waddington as well but time constraints mean I can only really afford a max of 5 days around that time hence my choice. Will squeeze in Cosford Hendon and a couple of hours at Lakenheath as well.

Can't people do one show on the Saturday and the other on the Sunday? My plan is Duxford Saturday, RIAT Sunday and Farnborough Monday - hardly difficult.

Theres only one place to be even with the clash, although I enjoyed the experience of RIAT this year, the atmosphere didn't even come close to that of Legends. And as for the flying, well Legends is in a league of its own. The pilots, aircraft and setting make the show so special. I'll be at Duxford for at least 5 days for arrivals and the show, with no doubt in my mind that i'm making the right decision!
