Apologies guys, but I can find no type of official notice anywhere online. Having seen the NOTAM and discussing with other friends and enthusiast alike, the co ordinates seem to suggest that this fence will be in place further away than the 'bank'. I did see an image being put about of the line now ending at was the western end 'press' enclosure.

EDIT:

From 'another' forum, map below:

More to the point, why are the emergency exit gates showing people running on to an active airfield?

Just a thought - those gates are to take people away from an incident crowd side - an explosion for example. As soon as such emergency was declared the "active" airfield would be closed down leaving the safe airside area for escape from the danger zone.

No overflights of the crowd in the US show in May but they were landing that end but surely just moving the point at which they turn after takeoff would solve the problem.

Not as simple as just turning off the line I'm afraid. At this point airspeed is still low and reconfiguring the aircraft, undercarriage, flight surfaces, trim, Radio Comms etc . Im sure their is also a minimum fly out length immediately after take off that CAA and Duxford specify. Im sure others will clarify this?

I think we are at cross purposes here but as I see it, if aircraft were turning over the tank bank after take off then surely keeping straight on until clear of the airfield perimeter before turning solves the problem.

Important announcement from The Fighter Collection.

This year, air shows around the UK including the Flying Legends Air Show, have been subject to additional regulations regarding flying display permissions.

To enhance your visitor experience at this year’s Flying Legends Air Show, run by The Fighter Collection, we will be moving the crowdline forward in the central area of the museum site.

To achieve this increased capacity in the central viewing area, we have had to make some difficult decisions, which has ultimately led to the Land Warfare end of the site not being a permitted viewing area from Wednesday 6 July onwards and for the entire weekend of the Flying Legends Air Show.

There will be a small amount of sterile car parking which will be clearly designated. For safety reasons, visitors won't be able to return to their cars in this area until after the flying display has concluded. Please assist us by complying with instructions from staff at the air show.

We hope that you’ll understand the reasons behind these changes and we trust you will have an enjoyable Flying Legends Air Show.

Maps of the public layout will be posted soon.

If there are shows at all at Duxford in 2017, I will be surprised.

Punters won't accept these bulldung restrictions. Especially the hardcore type who stake out the Tank Bank on Legends weekend.

For all Legends numerous issues with accidents and near misses down the years, not once has anyone on the Tank Bank - or anywhere on the crowdline - been endangered.

No parking fee charge for legends (been mentioned several times) At least duxford still has Brian backing every change they do.

I don't see Brian backing it. Merely a conduit for the information.

But it's criticism of duxford and Brian believes duxford can do no wrong.

I've got no problem with the Tank Bank being closed as I don't go up there.

How does moving the crowdline forward in the centre section "enhance the visitor experience?"

It's the no1 in a black circle that's Press and hasn't there been a Press enclosure along that part of the crowd line for a while?

And what makes you think you know what I think about Duxford, spelt with a capital D by the way.

 resorting to being a grammar nazi now. The evidence is all over this forum, any slight criticism of Duxford and it's normally followed by a post from you jumping to its defence and disagreeing with it.

So no Tank Bank / M11 end for Legends?

Correct.

Is this fact or speculation?

But if it drives even more people away from attending Duxford shows then surely you'll have a problem with that?

At the end of the day the organisers have to operate within the regulations laid down by the CAA, I don't think it is optional.

I can only guess that they must consider moving the crowdline a right royal pain in the bum. This along with all the other changes and additional costs.
