“People may be interested, this weekend[’s] Rafale display: The display aircraft and a spare will be based out of Cambridge Airport along with a support Casa 235. They will be arriving Friday [and] we expect a practice display Friday afternoon at Duxford. The three will be departing Cambridge Monday at some point”

The aircraft in the flying display are on the website. Unlikely you'll get any more than that as otherwise nobody would buy a programme, would they?

Theres more to a programme than just the flying display, so people will buy them if they want to or not. People outside this forum want to know when the 'star items' are flying, just trying to help a guy out.

So along with the over priced admission and parking, payment to the flight line walk etc you have to pay another 5+ quid to find out what it is you are seeing. I see a pattern developing...

People on this forum don't know when the star items are flying.
How many shows do you know where the display timings are released in advance? Even seaside shows make you buy a programme if you want to know the running order.

Usually at Duxford, the souvenir programme doesn't contain flying timings at all apart from the basic start/finish times. The more detailed timings are usually pinned on the side of the programme sellers/flightline walk huts/other information boards around the museum and last year were even posted on the IWM Website just before the event. No need to get too excited about it. :wat:

And thats the way it should be, just saying i don't agree with flight times being the only reason why you would purchase a programme

I agree.
The point I've been trying badly to make is that with few exceptions only the organisers know the display times (which are normally fluid at best) and why would they release the details when they can get you to spend £5? How many shows release the display timings? Duxford pinning them up for free is a nice gesture, though as already pointed out that aren't normally precise times. But even then you've paid to get in. It's not been released into the wide world. Heck, RIAT charge £2 for the daily arrivals sheets. Nothing comes for free when you can charge for it. And that hoes for all shows, not just Duxford.

Hi guys,

First visit to Duxford on sunday, so bit of info required if I may please.

Coming by car, i have a parking permit so:

Which is best way into the site A505 from A1 or up the M11?

Car you watch the flying display from your car?

Are there plenty of food stalls albeit expensive i expect

Is it worth taking chairs in or is it really packed

Where is the best views eastern end or west?

many thanks

Car you watch the flying display from your car? Perhaps, but only if you get on the south side early and its pot luck. Turning off the A505 driving from the west it may be difficult turning into first car park if it's not full. If coming from M 11 keep going west and right past the normal entrance to the tank bank end car park. If you park on the northern car park means walking over the foot bridge above the A 505.

Are there plenty of food stalls albeit expensive i expect yes and yes

Is it worth taking chairs in or is it really packed take chairs you'll find a space. It will be packed.

Where is the best views eastern end or west? debatable and a personal choice but for a first visit perhaps just try to get near the fence and decide from there.

many thanks

Don't forget the museum itself well worth visiting. Have a great time.
