As you can see my source was fairly reliable.....

The display jet looks really smart too this year.

Dare we hope for blue skies?

Last year it was up to the day before, I don't know if that's changed?

Ooh... Rafale...

I was tempted by the Strikemaster (no I'm not joking) but the Rafale has decided it...

As long as the weathers good, the Rafale has made my mind up for me. Any chance it'll practice on the Friday?

Also, what's the deal with motorcycle parking? Is it free and whereabouts is it usually?

It's amazing what information you can find just by looking at the relevant web site.

Travelling by motorbike

Motorbikes do not need a vehicle parking permit as they can be parked on a small amount of hard standing ground on site in our East car park – you'll be directed as you approach IWM Duxford. As this site is limited however, do arrive early to avoid disappointment. During the period of the air show, a traffic management system will operate on the M11, A505 and at Junction 10 of the M11, to ensure traffic flows as freely as possible. We recommend that visitors travelling south on the M11 take the alternative route, which will be signposted from Junction 11 of the M11, along the A10 to Royston and then east to the museum along the A505. For up-to-date traffic and travel information on the day keep an eye on the Highways England website.

I was wondering the same thing, the PdF did a practice on the Friday last year... so guess there's a possibility the Rafale will do the same.

I imagine the MAA will request a validation for the Rafale, given it's a new display pilot this year? So Friday could be a good time to visit Duxford. I wonder where they'll base the jet for the weekend?

IIRC, the Belgian F-16 has used RAF Mildenhall for Duxford appearances in the past, so that would be my guess for the Rafale.

Would have thought it would be either LN, Mildenhall or CGY.

Could it not base itself at one of the Northern French bases, maybe Evreux - you may also get a CASA or Transall as support? Only a couple of hours in a Rafale there and back - Cambrai would have been the obvious choice, but that is no longer operational.

My guess is they would want to use somewhere near-by, but La Patrouille de France have done similar previously - which is why I ask.

Probably gonna be based 'locally' for the weekend where the correct grade of jet-fuel is available??

Hello everyone! I've just joined this forum, have read it when friends sent me links to photos of events they photographed which posted here.

Well I've got tickets to the May airshow, really looking forward to it as I love aviation and photography, so hope to get some good shots this year.

Wouldn't the rafale operate out of Cambridge? I know that the patrouille have done before as has the typhoon on an occassion. I may be wrong, but surely that would be logical.

Really hope we see a Mustang added to the flying.
Also what's the bet the Sea Vixen cancels. Been to around 4 shows where it was scheduled to appear and it's gone tech! Haven't seen it since its Red Bull days! :dizzy:

Duxford really seem to be upping their game in terms of participation. I really hope they improve the general management inside the airshow.

Last year I was really dismayed to see they had parked a load of campervans at the front of the car park meaning anybody watching from their car had their view totally obscured, thus adding to the crush at the front. If Duxford was made more comfortable (by thinking about things like this) it could be a really nice airshow venue; but it's always a bit tight and stressed out in comparison to shows like Old Warden and RIAT.
