First time:where to go?

First time:where to go?

Postby Tatan63 on Tue 19 Jun 2012, 8:10 pm

Hello,
I'm French spotter and normally I'll go to Farnborough the Friday.

I would like to know if it is possible to make pictures of the demo from outside and if yes where could I go to make the best pictures.

Regards

Hi Antione there are plenty of places to view the flying display from at Farnborough. My website has a map of most of these http://www.farnboroughspotters.com/viewing.html . Best places are Eeelmoor Bridge if runway 06 is in use. If 24 in use the north side of the airfield near the main entrance to TAG Aviatiion (plastic plane on roundabout), both these require a car and you may have a 15 min walk from a parking place.. If you are coming by train head for the area marked RAE road on the map, here is the Swan Pub which is right under the final approach for runway 24.

Hi go past the bridge towards Aldershot (assuming you come from the M3) and on the right after about 1/4 mile is a large gravel carpark next to the army driving school. There is parking for about 50 cars here. Alternatively there is a car park on the left a little further down but this can not be used show week. Both these are no more than 15min walk to the bridge.

Hi, this information is very helpful. I was wondering whether there is anywhere on the opposite side of the airfield to the exhibition halls you recommend where I can watch the flying overhead on Friday afternoon. I am traveling down to camp for the weekend on Friday to visit the show but hope to be able to cycle over late afternoon to catch the last of the displays ahead of the public displays on the weekend. Many Thanks

Hi you need to head to Elles Road (A327) as it goes along the northside of the airport for the closest views. Alternatives are Morrison's supermarket just further down this road towards the M3, or the playing fields marked Southwood Pavilion on this map https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=elles+road+farnborough&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x48742b3ebcb0d7fb:0x720c900a6f35ba07,Elles+Rd,+Farnborough,+Hampshire+GU14&gl=uk&ei=7UnrT723KYaw8gPhmZHzBQ&ved=0CAkQ8gEwAA&oi=local_group
