Flying Display Timings - Thursday 12 July + Reds validation

Post by Markie »

A380 14:15
The Blades 14:26
EC175 14:46
T50B 14:57
Typhoon 15:12
Gripen 15:26
Starduster 15:35
Yak 130 15:45
MV-22 Osprey 15:56
Speedtwin 16:05
F-18 Hornet 16:12

Red Arrows will arrive at 10:38, depart at 12:42 for a display at Shrivenham and recover at 13:26. They are also validating tomorrow, after the F-18 by the sounds of it.

FIA twitter feed mentions a 'Tornado practise' tomorrow aswell so I'm guessing this is the role demo validation? Not sure of timings for this though.

Is that Farnborough in Kent? Either that or the weather radar is talking porkies. I live only ten miles away and it has been raining since 2.30pm

Alas Farnborough did not 'get away with it'. It started spitting lightly at about 14:30 and then got steadily harder before settling into heavy rain for the rest of the afternoon (and it's still like it now). The majority of the flying display was effectively a washout and, suffice to say, the Reds didn't validate (again!).

Blimey, their METAR issuer was lying then, never mentioned rain until after 4!

That was better than the BBC website's forecast. When I left for the airfield mid-morning it was predicting cloud with sunny spells - no rain at all!
