They said the P-8 and 787 were not displaying as a mark of respect by Boeing for the Malaysian 777 that crashed.

Well worth going today just for the Harrier.

Will the P-8 and 787 still display tomorrow and Sunday?

Should have stuck to my original plan and leave before the Vulcan displayed. Wasn't worth staying for and it should be put out to pasture as soon as posible. Forgotten how impressive a hoooooovering Harrier is though. No vertical take off as it might damage the runway but lots of hooooooovering.

I would have thought so. There was no mention of them not flying at the weekend.

Not until a link to the flying display for the weekend was posted on the previous page of this thread, of course....

Had a fab day today, First time at Farnborough and really enjoyed it!
It only took us about 2 hours though to get in to the site in the school minibus from just outside the car park. So dis-organised!
Was great to see the A380,A400M and the Harrier, Shame the reds aborted 3/4 of the way through their display due to a bird strike.

CONFIRMED flying display now up, it's the same as the provisional so the P-8 and f-18 ARE displaying.

Also, the B787-900 and SSJ are staying in the Static - YAY

The weather forecast is rapidly improving and now looks like, if we do get heavy rain / thunderstorms they will be over the show for 5-10 minutes at most.

Enjoy the show - I will

The spontaneous applause and cheering from the "Joe Public" gathered at "The Swan" immediately following the Vulcan display would seem to indicate otherwise.....

Hardly surprising though is it?

The Harrier has been off the circuit for 4 years, and was always a crowd favourite.

However, that dual seat Spitfire put on such a boring display, the commentator went quiet and fell asleep for the whole display!

I think you hit the nail on the head right there. That was as boring a Harrier display as I've ever seen, probably not helped by the venue, whilst this year the Vulcan (which has been on the scene for a good few years now) is as boring as its ever been. Credit to the Spanish Navy for sending them over, especially considering how well we support their shows

As I said in another thread, the Harrier display was nothing more than a non aerobatic 'demo', very reminiscent of the final RAF displays in 2010.

It's 'party piece' is always impressive, but like the Vulcan it was a shadow of it's displays in years gone by.

Take away Harrier and P8 ,and you have a pretty Lacklustre line-up, overly priced as always and getting more like a shadow of its former self year in year out. Not a patch on Fairford.
