as a Trade visitor, which day would you go?

Tue 03 May 2016, 3:29 pm

Just registered as a trade visitor but it is my first time to go to the FIA. Which day do you reckon to go? Some people said there will be many students on Friday and I am not sure if Monday will be also occupied by many people as it is the first trade day. Any advice would be helpful.

Cheers,
Adam

Monday

Any of Monday to Wednesday. Remember though the trade halls will be busy the showground and flight line is that never busy. You can easily get a spot on the crowd line as the first flying item taxis out! Heaven!

As above Mon-Wed, some interesting stuff will leave post Wed.

Here is why Monday is best (possibly) (subject to weather of course)

- crowd line not crowded (trade will not slope off to watch the display on the first day) and half the people that may be there will be at RIAT Monday departures.
- big wigs visit on Monday therefore it is more likely an item may be displayed (this does into always follow of course)
- media is interested in the opening day - as above an item is more likely to display as it may get more coverage
- there is usually an opening flypast (i.e. Vulcan and Red Arrows previously) at midday - this will obviously only be on the opening day and this year if I was PR for LM I would want my product to feature with the Red Arrows (this does not mean any inside information!)-
- the prawns are fresher

I find Tuesday and Wednesday best.

One is traditionally military day so all the big orders announced with all mil aircraft displaying. The other is airliner day in my experience.

However I don't recommend doing Farnborough at all as its expensive and not worth the cash.

However if you do the halls and collect some goodies you could break even or maybe make a profit!!!

Which day is "Military Day" this year - if they still theme the days in that way?

Cheers,
Ralph

It is looking a bit thin on the flying at the moment. However they normally give the first news of trade day aircraft about this time of year. No idea why they want to keep it secret? Mind you the highlights for me are always the aircraft 'on delivery' like the Ethopian Dash 8, Azul ATR, and Mexican SSJ last show. The flying is pretty much a mix of a few from RIAT, a couple of airliners and a seaside show at the weekend.

We're going on Tuesday. Leisurely start, in at 10am , a quick blast through halls to meet a few people and a spot on the fence by lunchtime. Lovely.

No, you book a day

That's what I thought. But the wording on the website seems to suggest you can book and then choose what day to go.

Sadly I won't be attending this year, after normally doing the Tuesday/Wednesday. Worked out that I can do a day in Copenhagen and a.n.other for cheaper than one day entry ticket for Farnborough...

What time did they let people on the field today anyone know ?

Email from FIA says trade passes for today may also be use for an extra day this week.

Can you still purchase a Trade ticket on the day at the entrance to the show?

W going to go tomorrow but the website seems to just be talking about advance registration.

Probably will not go anyway as it will cost me a good £80 to get there by train and to get in and that will not include the mortgage required to get food and drink either.

You might like to share how you do Copenhagen and a.n.other for £42. I'll book my tickets straight away

Ryanair - £9.99 each way from Luton; catch 40 winks in the car overnight!

I didn't realise you still get £9.99 tickets. For that price I'd go anywhere just for the ride. EasyJet seems to have a minimum of £29.99 these days and every return trip is invariably more expensive than the outward leg.
