Of course BAE may well provide a Typhoon to display as far away as possible! I really feel the days of fast jets here is numbered?

Surely the Typhoon displaying in Croatia is to ensure its a safe distance from the Farnborough crowd line...

De Havilland Devon added to the static park. Anyone else wondering if Farnborough has gone back in time to 1960?

They have to put something in the static after half the trade aircraft go by Thursday.

They have to put something full stop... It's looking worse than feeble at the moment.

Farnborough have just released a video of some of this year's latest technology demonstrators expected to appear at the show.

Reds calendar does not include Farnborough so looks like no RAF participants.

Sad times, although lets be honest we all expected it...

I wonder if they'll still open it on the Monday.

Think post Shoreham, Farnborough's days are numbered, they'll have the trade days and scrap the show days. No-one will pay RIAT+ prices for a seaside show lineup (although seaside shows do have RAF fast jet and Red Arrows displays)

They won't do away with the public weekend, it's a goldmine as they know Joe Public will pretty much lap up a local airshow. Having said that without the Reds / Vulcan then the crowds might well decline a little.

It's probably only the enthusiast that actually doesn't bother with this show anymore.

As it will be flypasts only they will probably still be there. Their display list clearly says it doesn't include events where it is flypasts only.

The quote under that photo is very misleading because the RAF Typhoon didn't actually miss the show in 2016 as it was never going to be there. The MOD pulled it months beforehand, as they did with the Red Arrows, as the RAF display can't fit in the Farnborough display box. However, there was a British Typhoon in the show as BAE Systems sent one of theirs, fully tooled up and flown by a test pilot. Although fast and noisy, it's not dynamic and doesn't use the sort of manoeuvres that are in the RAF display.

Just been tweeted by Farnborough:

The @rafredarrows will be returning to #FIA18 this July! Their flypast is to be part of our legendary five-hour flying display & they will be on the ground meeting the public and helping us celebrate the RAF100. We're excited about an action-packed show #lovefarnborough

Me too. Went once in 2012, and the only good things you can say about the show is the close proximity to the runway for take-off/landing shots and the usual A380 display.

The only thing worth attending for in recent years on the public days is the A380, Spanish Harrier, T-50 & Canberra! Everything else has been mediocre. I won’t be attending again, until something very rare makes it worth attending. I won’t be forking out 50 pound to see what i pretty much would see at Eastbourne. Not to mention the god awful display line cramped with junk!
