Press day?

Post by Sea King »

Friday, with a 'limited flying display'. Anyone know what's scheduled to fly?

I seem to remember a few arrivals last year, but not many displays.

Chinook and Merlin should both be arriving on Friday.

Think the Belgian A109 is also coming Friday and may practice it's display for the media?

Hawk and Tornado GR4 are both practising Saturday.

Can you actually visit the museums on the Saturday ?

Great excuse to be on site , and see the museums - but I guess theyre closed ?

Otherwise any idea what times the planes will be practising ?

Thanks in advance.

Museum is open as usual all weekend so you can watch the displays from there. And it looks like the GR4's will be practising about 2.30pm ishhhh.

Im assuming by your answer the museum is closed on Saturday then?

Shame its not the School holiday still. Wouldve been ideal to take the bairn along on the Friday.

Any idea what time the jets will be doing their practising on the Saturday ?

Thanks.

The Museum will be open as per normal Friday and Saturday, and of course Sunday

Sorry, the GR4 practice is on Saturday. And it looks like the Hawk will be practising Saturday too. Plus Team Merlin will be departing Cosford (to Throckmorton) and then coming back later in the evening. Same goes for the Newcastle JP and then most of the warbirds will arrive Saturday night also.

Thanks for the info, Peter.

Chinook, Merlin and the Belgian A109 expected Friday - doesn't seem like much activity. What's happening regarding the French Transall?

Any word on timings? For either Friday or Saturday.

I presume the French are coming early Saturday like last year. I'll find out all the timings on Friday morning and try and get them posted on here.

Has anybody watched the practices from the Museum side before ?

If so can you see quite clearly ?

Ive not been to the museums as such before so not sure how close to the runway they are .
I have been to the airshow before and recall going in a hanger which was was close that had old aircraft / missiles in it

The best place to watch the practices would be the station platform, but dont know how you'd feel having a 4yr old with you next to a fairly busy line. Watching from the museum would be fine but doubt photography will be any good as its a fair distance from where the runway / crowd line is

If i go to Cosford Saturday with my daughter (as the alternative is Throckmorton), then we will visit some of the museums. I dont think she'd be that impressed driving an hour to stand in a railway station !

Shame if photography not great, but its more to let her see how loud and fast the jets are.

I know the Sunday would be better, (tho weather forecasts are erratic). But its just the whole crowd / traffic syndrome I cant be having with her in tow.

If anyone has times for today, that would be appreciated. The only one I know is Neils JP at 1645.

Anyone here going?
