Got to agree with DanO, if the weather plays ball this will be a very, very good airshow.

Full credit to all involved!

VC10 flypast - it just gets better and better.

Cosford 2012 is going to be a classic, with the show just over a week away I am feeling like a kid in the run up to Xmas right now.

My experience of weather forecasts is that they can change on daily basis. Last year the weather forecast did not look absolutely horrible the night before and then the weather was what it is. As far as weather is concerned, everything is still possible.

I don't trust forecasts this far off, personally I will be checking the night before and then making a decision.

Likewise. I have seen weather forecasts going from one end to another within a space of hours. Once I was going to a meet with friends and the week before the weather forecasts went rain one day and the sun the next, then rain again and back to being sunny.

D200 - As a thought, and with the weather in mind, would it not be a possible idea for the fab Jaguar taxi run to be on standby / repeated possibly if say the weather got the better of some of the planned Flying displays, so it would keep the public entertained should the rain effect things & produce quiet periods etc etc during the afternoon?? Of course we wish you a warm sunny day but our great british weather as seen of late is just a joke :( - just my pennys worth....

Oldtower: Thanks for your thoughts but with a very varied program inclusive of helicopter displays, we can cope with bad weather should we need. Your idea had already been considered but is not deemed necessary at this time. As it happens; the weather systems are so dynamic at this time that it could just as easy be sunshine or showers and will probably be a balance of both. The forecast has changed on and off today and only the temp at 16/17 is remaining a constant. It is likely to be mostly overcast with a south westerly wind and early morning rain. Not disimilar to today and to be honest; if it replicates today it will not be a bad thing. Bottom line is that the jetstream is in control of the weather and if it maintains its strength and breaks on schedule, saturday, we may get a good day.

10:00 am Saturday is the C160 scheduled arrival time followed by comedy hour watching to see how we park it! Hope they bring a tow-bar for the static park really is packed out this year.

The VC10 timings are a bit flexible as a few scenarios are considered. You must also remember that a large aircraft leaves wake turbulence behind especially when at high power which is an unseen consideration that the Display Director has to contend with. The timeframe should be between 15:00 & 15:30 but even at this late stage the goalposts are manouverable due to unforeseen events. The other website has some inaccuracies such as a Chinook static which is not happening and the C160 is definately static only. We simply have no room in the flying display program at all which is good news for everybody who has parted with their hard earned for a good day out. The Arena events schedule is now on the Cosford Facebook page which adds positively to the ethos of something for all the family.

Good spots for timing are: West end of the airfield for the large scale models followed by the runway mid point where the Falcons DZ is at 12:00. Get there early so as not to mis the Jaguar taxi, a 10 min slot that will occur between 10:00 and 10:30. Once the flying starts, the gaps are few and minimal, most only being 2 mins between slots. There are details of a photographic competition in the souvenir program which may be of interest the forum members. A timely reminder though to go with the flow with the traffic plan for an attempt to by-pass the plan will end up with a lot of delays and stay off the A5 if routing to Cosford, instead bite the bullet off the M54. The traffic plan has been considered very carefully and is optimised at keeping different event traffic apart; not spin: Fact!

Sorry to disappoint Paul but I'd be very surprised if the EAP appears but if it does I would love it too!

The reason it's still "under wraps" is the fact that it's still viewed as a development aircraft in certain political circles so there's a bit of paperwork involved as always to strike it off the books so to speak!
