Cosford Arrivals

Post by G-AMPY »

Was on the classic air force website and the aircraft movements thread gives timings for the planes going to Cosford. Peter has already said Cosford will be open 10am to 6pm on friday and saturday so if you have any information on arrival times post in this thread for all of us going to the railway station. :win:

Green = confirmed times. Yellow = guess/rumour.

Friday
Rapide 10.30am
Proctor 10.30am
Prentice 10.30am
Whirlwind 11am

Apache x3
Navy lynx
RAF Sea King

Saturday
Anson 10.45am
Chinook
P-51 Sharmouth

I must admit I am in 2 minds on whether to book the Friday of work or not. I will be there on the bridge on Saturday but starting to think most of the action may take place on the Friday what does everybody else think?

Sharksmouth P51 should be a Saturday afternoon arrival, not practice just arrival.

Just a note on terminology, all items have achieved PDA (Public Display Authorisation) before arriving in the at the show. They will either be validating at the request of the MAA, or just practicing their display. Also, the airfield is open for two days, make of that what you may.

I am a little suprised that Validation for any individual air displays for this years show at Cosford would actually commence during normal opening hours of 10am - 6pm of the RAF museum. I would have thought that validation would have taken place out side of this, so that the public aren't around in the imediate vacinaty (health & safety, etc ).

The museum is not on the actual airfield.

In reply to previous post; yeah I know where the musuem & airfield are located within the Cosford site; the point I was trying to make was from a health & saftey prespective; traffic problems in the local area (blocking exits, etc) & the that fact that if anything did go wrong & an incident occurs with a display validation it may be better if there were as few people around as possible.

The validations will be mainly over the airfield and anyone who blocks exits/crash gates will be moved on by the Military Police. You are there at your own risk outside of the airfield.

From the posts i've read so far, it looks like PDA for the jets may happen saturday; with Ramdex Delta schedule stating 'Cosford 13th & 14th June' I'd say that was very probable.

The restricted airspace notices are only in place for the afternoons, 2pm to 6pm local on Friday and Saturday so perhaps primarily arrivals am each day.

Reds into Shawbury 1115 Sunday; out at 1344 for the Cosford display and back at 1445.

Will then be departing the following morning to Brize at 1138.

Pretty sure the fighters will be operating out of Cosford as they have done so for a number of years. However, fast jets or some of them at least will be out of Shawbury due to the length of the runway, 18/36 if memory serves?

Thinking of visiting the airfield tomorrow, does anyone know of any practices which are scheduled to take place?
