RIAT 2012 Participants

I have not been on here for a very long time so I have a lot of catching up to do!

Looking at the latest update, it is looking very good. I have to admit that I was 55/45 that the Super Hornet would not be coming but pleased to see it added! Gobsmacked that we have the Super Et's from France coming. I checked Yeovilton's website and they are not due to appear there (at the moment anyway).

I am hoping that the MOD/RAF can be persuaded to offer a VC-10 for the show seeing as another two are due to retire during this summer

Where have all the moaners gone btw?

2 French Navy SEM flying
Brings back memories when the French did a farewell display with 2 F-8's a while back, and that was one heck of a display !

Not flying. There is no ban on static displays AFAIK.

Can't agree with it. The likes of the Super Etendards, Rafale, MiG 29, Al Fursan, Colombians and French C-135 aren't going RIAT because of Farnborough. It just seems to me that the comments RIAT received about last year's lacklustre event hit home and they have decided to focus on what RIAT is all about. The current lineup proves that.

+1 to the RIAT 2013 bit. It's my aviation spectacular, and I will always go no matter what the line-up.

Kieran, just to point out the Columbians are in town due to Farnborough, the Herc is being used to transport the trainer for display at FI.

Folks, who cares what they are here for, at least they are here! Make the most of all the events while you can, it gets harder and harder every year to attract nations across, tying in with more than one event make it more attractive, especially with the penny counters!

Indeed. The days of a German Phantom flying display are sadly long gone. The Luftwaffe hasn't provided any fast jet demos since 2003 (apart from the odd role demo thingy at ILA shows in Berlin). The point I was making was that we would all love to see one on static, which at least in theory ought to be possible.

The first part of the 2004 season has seen some Luftwaffe fast jet demos. The ban came around the end of June, begin of July of that year. They were still flown at the RNLAF Open Days that year.

Not true, they have flown solo demos at their own open days since then.

Top Lineup this year but the SuperEt's are the cherry on the rather tasty looking cake for me. If it's 2 flying like they did once with the F8's then :yahoo: If it's one it's still a big  from me. Tickets duly booked.

Hi all, reading all the enthusiastic comment, some i think may need to go in the wishlist.
Firstly, i want a phantom, but hey look at what the germans are bringing us this year, and according to Waddingtons website the germans have declined, so lets be thankfull that we have germans at the show.
Secondaly who dosent want a B1B at the show??? Everyone wants one at the show but it has HUGE aperating costs for the USAF so its all dependant on there budjet and if there crews are free. Fingers crossed for one at RIAT 2012.

Got absolutely no problem with this years lineup... it looks damn fine with a lot of variety. The static could do with a bit of fattening up but other than that i'm well happy. I just pray for a good weather RIAT for a change. That would turn a great looking lineup into a RIAT classic that we all look back on misty eyed.

Just recieved my Vulcan newsletter and they state they are not part of the flypast tommorow but are working with the MOD with something different which will contribute to the Jubilee celebrations. Now with our little tip off that there will be a mass flypast at Fairford during RIAT, Any bets that the Vulcan will be part of it???? Lets Hope

No. It will be the Hawks segment in EIIR formation they are looking at (but it is NOT confirmed yet, they are working on it) as was said by RIAT themselves in their newsletter this week.

NEWS: On Saturday (May 19) a special Tri-Service flypast will take place over Windsor Castle in honour of the HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. We are working with the Royal Air Force to secure the mass 'Hawk' configuration from this weekend's flypast for the Air Tattoo.

Now this would undoubtedly be cool but what if all 27 give a brief airfield beat-up after

Would be different to get the full formation....

Though I get the feeling there would be more Hawks in Fairford than Valley! (With the Arrows and Saudi Hawks there as well)

Personally I would just as much like the VC-10 and Tonka bit (My fingers are still crossed that a VC turns up). Wouldn't take too much to do that as well, VCs only a few miles away at Brize, and 2 Tonkas already there for the role demo.
Time will tell...
