Well, that is the overkill in UK airshows. Don't be surprised if there will be more shows that will advertise to be the "official 50th anniversary show for the Red Arrows". I can't imagine all the big foreign teams will come over every weekend for another 50th.
No thats not what i'm getting at - am just saying as Waddington is the main RAF show would that be the main celebration show for the 50th Anniversary, as its an RAF run show??
However, the RAF's 90th was celebrated at Fairford back in 2008, so I'm not sure...
I'm quite sure that also happened at Waddington (and contrary to Fairford, it happened , Fairford that year, as they say, is history).

As far as I was aware, Waddington did not stage any official RAF 90th flypast. At Fairford however, this, contrary to what you have just said, did occur on the Friday afternoon. At Fairford, the RAF were presented with their new colours, which was celebrated with an RAF Parade, and a 90th anniversary flypast from the RAF.
For the staitic, I suggest they bring in all the Gnats restored in Red Arrows colours and line them up, airworthy and non-airworthy and also the 'Yellowjacks' Gnat from North Weald, the 'Black Arrows' and 'Blue Diamonds' Hunters, Avro Tutor and Tiger Moth from Shuttleworth in CFS aerobatic team colours and line them up in historical order to show the history of RAF aerobatic teams culminating in today's Red Arrows, with of course a Red Arrows Hawk at the end of the line...emblazoned with a gold '50' on the tail.
A flypast with a Gnat or two does seem like an appropriate way to mark the occasion (I seem to recall that being done at Waddington in '04 for the 40th anniversary). But because it has been done before it seems almost too obvious. I'm hoping that they can come up with something a bit more original and maybe with a bit of spectacle.
Gnats leading a formation of aircraft that were used by their counterparts during the last 50 years, just where to find an airworthy G-91 to represent the Frecce...

hoping for a formation of the Frecci, Aquila, Patroille, turkish stars, black eagles, the airworthy Gnats, thunderbirds and the Red Arrows.. then i woke up!
i think it would be good if all the RAF display aircaft for 2014 were painted as Red arrows mmm why stop with display aircraft a massive voyager red arrow ?????

Well, on Tiger maybe... From what I heard from Switserland their rumoured disbandment was axed due to a public uproar. They would transform into a Hornet team.

Holy monkey! Great if it's true. Seems unlikely though seeing as running the F-18s would be much more expensive than the F-5s.
does look a little overpowering but a cheap and simple tribute to the Reds that would have big impact with Jo public. Coloured smoke? now thats an idea?
“The best computer is a man, and it’s the only one that can be mass-produced by unskilled labour.”
Is it worth trying to get the Russians to send Swifts or Knights over for Reds 50th or waiting to see if they'll return the favour for the RAF's 100th?
Be nice to see them come over and use some flares! Why oh why can't we experience the visuals of flares over here?
Sometimes the situation calls for highly accurate, high explosive. Paveway, for when diplomacy isn't enough.
