Saturday Tickets
Saturday Tickets
Hi guys,
I know, I know. They're sold out. Unfortunately I missed the boat (or plane) on this one as I was booked up for the weekend but have now become free. Any ideas on how I might be able to get my hands on 2 x Saturday tickets?
Apologise that this is solely a thread for my gain but I do appreciate your help & promise to try and post something mildly useful in the future...
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Saturday Tickets
You could keep an eye on 'Fleabay' if you're that desperate......if previous years are anything to go by , be prepared to be charged rip-off prices ( often at least 3 times face value ) for them , though.

Re: Saturday Tickets
Today's newsletter said there are a few possibilities for FRIAT or the Lightning pavillion. Which will be the cheaper option? maybe Ebay.

Re: Saturday Tickets
Mach 2 & 3 are still available at £190 & £210 respectively , so possibly more than what the touts on Fleabay will be charging for just a Saturday ticket.
( Edited to add....last year , standard Saturday tickets were going for about £100 on fleabay )
According to their website , even the Lightning Pavillion ( £504 ! ) is sold out for the Saturday now.

Thanks guys! Yeah I was hoping for a bit of a miracle with this one. Might just invest in Sunday tickets so I don't totally miss out but logistics are a bit harder to work than the Saturday.
Appreciate the help though. Lightning looks great but the £1K total for two tickets would have slightly blown my budget...

Re: Saturday Tickets
I'm not sure how suitable this method would be for you. I stumbled across it the other day.
Cooks coaches are doing day trips to RIAT on the Saturday.

Re: Saturday Tickets
Thanks for the coach tour info. I had looked yesterday around my neck of the woods (Bracknell, Reading etc) but none of them had Saturday tickets left. Didn't think to look elsewhere and I have sent a couple of requests asking if I can book the tickets but not actually ride on the coach. The only thing that might be an issue then is that the 'free carparking' might be a problem if they send out passes this year.
All good fun though and will just buy the Sunday tickets if it gets complicated, don't want to miss it this year!

Re: Saturday Tickets
Rokut - the coach operators are unable to sell just sell the tickets to the Air Tattoo they can only be sold with coach travel included, otherwise it will affect our car parking capacity. If you are able to get to Swindon, you can still buy a combined admission and Swindon Shuttle Bus Saturday ticket - to book this you will need to call our Customer Services Department on 0800 107 1940 (Mon-Fri 8.30am-5.30pm).

But still he needs to have tickets to enter the showground. Last year at the Swindon end Stagecoach personel was checking if all people had those already, and I've seen quite a number of people being asked to leave the queue, as they didn't have any of those.RiatMarketing wrote:you could use the Stagecoach Shuttle Bus from Swindon Bus Station

Firstly
Secondly, the tickets are named. It's never happened to me but do they ever check you're who you say you are?
From the clear t&c printed on the ticket:
"Unlawful resale (or attempted) is grounds for seizure or cancellation without refund or
compensation"
"The Ticket Holder shall not sell or transfer or attempt to sell or
transfer this ticket to any third party without the Organisers’ prior consent"
Anyone ever heard of this being enforced? In my mind it should be - maybe one in 100 tickets being checked might act as a deterrent to those odious individuals who sell them on for such a profit.
Granted that might make it tricky for genuine reasons when they are being offered at face value but it might stop the (in my view) crookery!

It is still currently possible to buy a combined admission and Swindon Shuttle Bus ticket for Saturday but these are now very limited and can only be purchased by calling our Customer Services department on the number given.

Nope.......not helped by the fact that the name on the ticket is related to the purchaser only , so if you legitimately bought a dozen tickets because you're going with a group of friends , your name would be on all of the tickets.

Thanks Marketing! I will give them a call and check the details.
Really do appreciate all the replies this has generated - really useful for me

Does make the above t&cs (oxymoron alert) a bit impossible to police and therefore pointless.

Re: Saturday Tickets
Thanks for this thread - very helpful indeed I've got two tickets with seating for the Sunday, but none for the Saturday since I was just too late to get them, and my arrangements have changed considerably (pretty much out of my control). I've actually been in touch with the guy selling a Saturday ticket for £100 on Ebay and he's determined to gouge people, won't accept a very reasonable offer for just the adult ticket, won't accept an offer to buy at his price and finish the auction early. I hope he gets nothing.....

Re: Saturday Tickets
What make it a bigger con with regards the touts on fleabay is they invariably list it as "one adult , 2 children" when they know full well that the childrens' tickets are free.

Yeah, the guy actually turned down my offer to buy just the Adult ticket (leaving him free to sell the childrens tickets), on the basis he got them for free so he could make more money on those too...... I think I'll probably go for the FRIAT tickets if the Swindon bus route is a no-go tomorrow, I'd rather pay that than give money to some sleaze trying to gouge people - at least my money would go to a good cause.
Re: Saturday Tickets
Surely selling children's tickets is just fraud. That goes beyond selling an adult ticket at an inflated price doesn't it? Even eBay must have rules against this kind of obnoxious behaviour??
Makes me bloody cross. My worry with buying tickets off these eejits is that there's nothing to stop them printing multiple copies off is there? However much you've paid, unless you're the first one through the gate with it, it's not going to work.
Grr...makes me want to start a petition and make placards and everything. Tossers.

Well, I can understand the guy. The children have to be accompanied by an adult, so without an adult ticket the children tickets are just useless.wepmob2000 wrote:Yeah, the guy actually turned down my offer to buy just the Adult ticket (leaving him free to sell the childrens tickets),

Might be worth contacting RIAT via their website with a link to the offending eBay page - it is a charity event after all and sure they'd appreciate a heads-up as to where dodgy dealings are going on.

Well I rang RIAT customer services, and after explaining my genuine extenuating circumstances they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, and the net result is I can now attend Saturday and Sunday This news, plus that of the Osprey's attendance means my cup of joy is full to overflowing!
I did mention the Ebay price gouger to them, and they said they do go after these people - echoing what's already been said - RIAT's view is these kind of shenanigans are especially dubious considering this is a charity event. I probably wouldn't have bothered if the guy was just covering his expenses and making a little on top, but aiming at more than 100% mark up..... well it just leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. I'm definitely glad I did it when I looked at his feedback and saw this is a trick he pulled last year too, buying Saturday tickets to gouge people over....
