A380 Heavy - the promise of that flypast would cause gridlock within 30 miles of the airfield!!! To use a grossly overused word that really would be awesome!!

Excellent Sunday morning hyperbole ;-)

I don't remember gridlock all the way from my house (30 miles from fairford) when it last appeared with the Reds...

You wouldn't have because that line up as proposed would be uniquely special and far removed from the Red Arrows effect!!

Ok I now get that you were meaning forumite 'A380Heavy', rather than suggesting an A380 as a flypast option.

Although I still don't see the flypast he suggested :-o

Or perhaps some people don't include the original post when referring to something 3 pages back - enough to confuse even the not-easily-confused :butt:

Still, you're right about the flypast, I'll give you that at least

I'm sure such a flypast may happen. Not at RIAT, but it may happen.

Ok, just to be a bit more specific than my earlier wishlist, and to annoy AFC a bit , I'd like to see any of the following in the static or flying (or both) display and from any air arm :-

MH-6 Little Bird
UH-1Y Venom
Seahawk
Blackhawk
Chinook
Apache
Hind
Tigre
NH90
Wildcat
Osprey
Cobra
Seasprite
Alligator
Havok

..........you get the idea

I know people complain bitterly about RIAT not being the place for helicopters, so I don't mind if they are on static only as will hopefully get them on arrivals or departures (unless they take off from West End and don't buzz by FRIAT stand  ). Yes I'm all for fast jets and heavies etc, but would be nice to see some different choppers, as much as I love the Apache I am getting a bit 'bored' by it :hypno:

A minority, ignore them. Anything military connected has a place at RIAT. Equally there has always been a small element of civilian and vintage types at IAT/RIAT and if they fit in with a theme or have a significant history - no harm in them being there.

If they don't interest anyone, look away, eat a sandwich, if need be go to the toilet, just don't tell us you are

I was at Oshkosh, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but those 2 F-4s have already been blown-up! They were due to be shot-down on Sunday!

They arrived on Monday evening, and departed Thursday lunchtime; their departure actually kicked off Thursday's airshow. A couple of hours prior to departure the pilots gave a very interesting talk in the showground, which I was lucky enough to attend (very lucky, as it happens... I was just wandering around the static and noticed that a small crowd had gathered around the camo F-4). The QF-4 programme will end on December 20th of this year, with QF-16s fulfilling the role from then on. There is a 'USAF Phantom Pharewell' event planned at Holloman for sometime in November, or possibly early December, at which they will try to get as many of the remaining Phantoms in the air one last time.

The main reason for finalising the switch to QF-16s is that they are running out of pilots who can fly the Phantom.

You had better ask the Greeks if they can work some display routines up over the winter.

How much would it cost to transport only one aircraft from Wright-Patterson to Fairford? (If someone is stupid enough to fund it: Valkyrie please, DBH)

Who's 'they'? wasn't the F-100 present in '97 a BAE systems machine? Nothing to do with the owners of the Flogger.
