US 70th Anniversary versus US 50th/60th anniversary
Re: US 70th Anniversary versus US 50th/60th anniversary
what are the chances of getting a sabre over from states for RIAT 2017 i believe there is at least one left RAF Duxford a couple of years ago?

I can't remember where I read it but I'm sure that Sabre was up for sale again since it left Duxford.
I don't know everything there is to know about our hobby.

It hasn't been "RAF Duxford" for a very, very long time.

Good luck with that one. It can arrive in formation with a pair of German MiG-29's.

More likely than someone's posts beginning with a capital letter and being correctly punctuated, I imagine.

Is that with Buck Rogers as the pilot?

To save you the bother of repeating yourself over and over and over...
What are the chances of... appearing at RIAT 17?
Re: US 70th Anniversary versus US 50th/60th anniversary
And to save everyone the bother of repeating an answer...
50/50.
50/50.
Re: US 70th Anniversary versus US 50th/60th anniversary
Good luck with those odds for getting a Starfighter to RIAT from the U.S.

An ISSCV/APC for the static park would be nice as well.
Oh , and can the SA-43 be in the MCAS Cherry Point colour scheme instead of the normal boring grey ?
And for those who collect them , can they have a stall selling Squadron patches ?

Re: US 70th Anniversary versus US 50th/60th anniversary
I was thinking last night regarding what would make a USAF Anniversary themed static special over and above the usual "we want stealths" and "rows of tankers and hercs" that we normally hear.
I came to the conclusion that what would make it memorable was if DBH could attract/convince some of the rarer or not as well known units/types in the USAF to attend the event. Many would be UK debuts and it would give the static a strong attraction not to mention a wow factor.
A few examples of what I mean (there are plenty out there):-
82nd ATS based at Tyndall AFB - the only operator of the E-9A Widget in the US Military.
390th ECS based at NAS Whidbey Island - the only USAF unit flying the EA-18G Growler.
430th ECS based at Khandahar Airfield - the only USAF unit flying the E-11A (close cousin of the Sentinel).
557th FTS based at the USAF Academy - operates the T-53A (USAF Sirrus SR20) and the four remaining T-41 in service (USAF marked C-172)
I know many won't agree but its something different and would certainly set Tom and his team a challenge

Trying to think with a realistic view.
Static from USAFE
KC135s x ?
C-130s X ?
F15E and Cs from lakanheath( You would think you could maybe get at least a pair from each Sqn at LN)
F16s from SP and AV ( poss 2 from each?
CV-22s from Mildnehall.
A10 ( if some are over on deployment.)
From USA
C-5 static
C-17 static
KC-10 static
E-3 static
B52 Flypast and static
B1 flypast and static
B2 Flypast and static
F15E or F22 demo
Thunderbirds
Maybe some of the above in a classic RIAT style fly past ?#
Mark.

I'm predicting a full F-35A demo team will be created for the 70th Anniversary, expanded and still including the Heritage Flight. That would be very nice.

A B-29 would be something special to behold but it seems imagination and the focus on cost these days to create such spectacles as Boscombe 92 or the Berlin Airlift type shows will never be repeated.

I saw one show up on ADS Radar yesterday, around Lakenheath. I was surprised there was no mention of it on UKAR.

If only flying large multi-engine warbirds across the Atlantic was so easy! Even if the owners of Fifi or Doc (which has flown maybe once or twice) could be persuaded to fly over, and you could negotiate the many logistical hurdles involved with such a trip, it would cost all of the money...
I like Andy's idea, but I'd settle for a SR-71 pair role demo a la Ramex Delta.
