Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
RAF. Lots of it. It's the centenary and it should be marked in a way appropriate to it:
-every flying RAF unit represented in some format
-as many historic RAF aircraft as possible in the static
-representation from foreign air force units that were RAF squadrons at one time
-anniversary schemes (retro schemes where possible)
-more than two or three RAF acts in the flying display
They will not have an opportunity to celebrate their centenary any other year.

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
I just want the Mirage 2000C solo back, I miss that display so much!
Living in the real world, maybe some UAE Block 60 F-16s/M2000s, Saudi Typhoons, Israeli F-16/15s or Qatari Rafales (I know 'yeah right'!)
All flying!

If the Slovenians could be convinced to send more in the light of their award - a PC-6 would be a dream Tom!

Swedish Historic Flight
Flying Phantom (whenever you speak to the Phantom crews they always tease about flying the following year - hopefully someone finally delivers)
Flying B-1
Flying Prowler (extremely unlikely but please)

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
An example of every type in the RAF inventory to display or perform a flypast.
Phantom (F)
An exotic military display team (Russian Knights would be nice or the Blue Angels)
B1/B-52 (F)
A full inventory from the RSV (F)
The Royal Jordanian Falcons (F).....
TU-95 (F) Flanked by a couple of Typhoons....

I'd love the Ukrainians to come back with an SU-27 or two. It would still be the highlight of the show for me!
Oh, and perhaps a Thai Gripen.

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
Some interesting "civvies" I'd love to see:
Omega DC-10 in the static would be good to see again.
G-OSRA too for the static park?
Heliswiss Ka-32 for the static.
Patrouille Tranchant in the flying.
And maybe it's time to finally see "them", you know who I mean...

Flying Harrier from USA? (I know, a big long shot)
Mossie?
Even mass Spitfire flights are relatively common ...its a tough one
The 90th anniversary Queen's Colour Flypast on the friday morning before RIAT 2008 was quite special, and if they can possibly replicate that with the aircraft that we have in service at the moment would be amazing

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
There's some great ideas in here.
My concern is how do you make 2018 less predictable, whilst honouring the theme - I wouldn't want a RIAT filled with numerous display teams (unless they've never attended before) and aircraft from every year possible (some exceptions) relevant to the RAF, which is what I'm concerned may happen. Try and attract the really exotic items for the birthday bash, if possible and maintain what the Air Tattoo is; a truly International show filled with lots of afterburner and hope the US reaffirm another healthy contribution to 2018 - obviously have some special set-piece for the RAF, but don't change what the Air Tattoo should be and 2017 is the model to follow, with hopefully better weather.
Farnborough too...

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
It's a theme that immediately sounds thrilling but when considered could turn out to be fairly pedestrian.
My hope is that air forces that have been particularly involved with the RAF make an appearance so we could maybe hope for Polish Migs/Sukhois, Czech Hinds/Hips, Slovakian Migs, Indian Sukhois, Migs, Jaguars, something from RNZAF, RAAF, RCAF, SAAF could also be potentially exciting.
I have never not *loved* a RIAT, but some are better than others - here's hoping 2018 does live up to the hype.

Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
Would love to see a B-1 in the flying display next year after not seeing it take off this year on the Monday, also like to see the F-35 display that Paris had this year looked a lot more exciting than lat years display at RIAT. Also would like to see a C-5.

Most lightening of things is done by electric these days so hardly rare...
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
Re: RIAT 2018 wishlist
I dunno, it's also possible to lighten things by removing bits. You don't need electricity for that.
