Does the comment from the RJF commentator that it is mandatory for them to fly at Fairford count as a self-confirmation for whichever upcoming year?

The 2018 CF-18 Hornet team's theme will be the 60th anniversary of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), whilst simultaneously joining in the RAF100 celebrations at RAF Fairford.

Don't think the F-35 has been listed on the confirmed aircraft page yet .

The first flight of F-35 isn't due at Marham until end of May / early June. Doesn't take many delays before it's squeaky bum time for RIAT. A month and half, you'd expect them to make it though

The F-35 hasn’t been listed on the aircraft page, the website has been advertising its attendance elsewhere for a number of months now along with the Red Arrows, Flypast and Royal Review. (all discussed in the discussion thread).

http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/visiting

“RAF100 at the Air Tattoo, a special one off event, is expected to include flying from the world famous Red Arrows and Britain's newest aircraft, the F-35B Lightning! Friday will be a day not to miss in 2018. This special, full show day, will include a mass RAF flypast, a Royal Review of aircraft plus a lot more!”

I just wonder why they are doing this RAF flypast just on the Friday ?

Most people will be at work , so why not the weekend (or both ? ) . Or is it a cunning ploy to get people to buy Friday tickets .
Personally I'm probably going on the Saturday , so its a shame may miss this. though may change my mind if its not really that exciting.
Maybe they are getting a Vulcan or Concorde to fly over

Have to say the Great warbirds inclusion is expected but I feel it gets totally lost at such a large event, would be better suited to the static display !

You can go get a sandwhich and only miss one high speed pass.

Seriously though, it'll be a fun addition.

Nope....as others who saw the practice for 2007 can likely confirm.

would be better suited to the static display !

Definitely not, why waste a display team again.
