FRIAT Seating Plan 2018

Post by boff180 »

As is tradition, UKAR will post a seating plan of UKAR Members in the grandstand so you can find like minded people to say hello too!

Please post your seat number in this thread and it will be added to the seating plan!

G166 and G167. A tad disappointed as we had booked pretty early for this one :-(

I booked at the show as always and have dropped down a row, perhaps another sign of just how much interest there is this year.

Anyone know how far down a Mach 3 could possibly go? For example could you be placed as low a row E?

That depends entirely on what people ask for that purchased earlier. Mach 3 doesn't get first crack at the tickets per se...

I have C2, C3, and C4 this year. exactly 1 seat further east than last year.

To clarify that, Mach 3 can request lower rows, but Machs 2 and 1 can't get access to the higher rows, no matter how early they book. Top rows are Mach 3 only. I don't think Mach 3 has gone to row E before (again, unless you specifically request it), its usually the top 3, maybe 4 rows.

I went Mach 3 last year and was placed in, well, G67...

I didn't overly mind since I was shooting mainly from down at the front and G-row wasn't too much of a climb up when I just wanted to sit and watch something. I find the grandstand too cramped for photography. But I'm fairly sure I was higher in the grandstand on previous years of lower Mach numbers.

I booked in January 2017.

Bugger! I'd be disappointed if I booked Mach 3 and was placed that far down. Oh well, all I can do is wait and see.

I've been Mach 3 for over 15 years now, or however long they have been doing Mach packages. Went for Mach 3 again for this year and have been allocated G166 and G167 even though I booked and paid in August last year.

I have sent an email to RIAT asking for clarification as did ask for aisle seat as well (have always asked for one and have always got one so far :-) )

Maybe they've allocated them based on favourable UKAR posts this year :-p

Just received my stuff in the post. E188 for me in Mach 3 - so yes to the question. I sent my form off on the Tuesday after departures on the Monday.

It is the number on your form that dictates where you are in the 'queue' not when you send your form in. Renewal forms are numbered and are made available Thursday in order. For example if you had claimed form number 1 on Thursday morning, you would get seat A1 -assuming you wanted it - whether you handed your form back at the event or sent it back in afterwards. That's my understanding anyway and is the process published by FRIAT.

E201 & E202 for me and the mrs this year (Mach 2).
This is our 4th year as FRIAT Mach 2 members.

2015 - Row G
2016 - Row G
2017 - Row H
2018 - Row E

Always pick up the renewal form on the Friday as soon as we get to the enclosure.
Our form number this year was 348.
Took it back to the hotel Friday night, filled it in and handed it back in at the enclosure on the Saturday morning.
Same old sh*t.............just happening on a different day!!!

davidjones533 wrote:So that makes a mockery of the supposed system then, since form 348 should get you in row B as a minimum? Dreading to see what I get as I lost my numbered form!

Not necessarily, it could be in line with the system as you can't get in row B as a Mach 2 member. There will be a point after x number of seats where Mach 3 allocation ends and Mach 2 begins, and is therefore the highest you can get in Mach 2.

Mach 3 again , this year G102 and 103, a row down from last year.

I was advised (by Wendy, yesterday) that this year there was an exceptional amount of specific seating requests, and to accommodate the specific request took precedent over the row, hence we got bounced down a row. Still got the aisle seat, so quite happy as I don't think there is a bad seat as such in the grandstand. I don't think the early sell out assisted either. Generally after the show they leave with 400 odd bookings, last year they had in excess of 1000.

I'd have thought if you just booked Mach 3 without any particular request you should be fine.

We actually sat by some Mach 3 members last year who had requested to sit ‘mid-grandstand’ (which I initially found strange) but they explained that it’s because they always found the middle seats less busy so more room to spread out (and after being in the midddle tiers the last 3 years I can see their point!).
