How much shorter (in time, roughly) is Sunday's flying display currently? I'm just thinking that something already confirmed might be changed to Sunday only, or that something yet to be announced will fill the gap.

What's been announced so far doesn't seem to leave much room for anything else flying on Saturday, hence the question.

Today we're back with another big aircraft update, with military aircraft from NATO and the Royal Netherlands Air Force as well as civilian types (including ex-military aircraft) from around the UK and Europe.
NATO will provide us with an E-3A Sentry for our NATO fly past whilst the RNLAF will send an F-16, C-130H Hercules, CH-47 Chinook, AH-64D Apache, AS532 Cougar and NH90 for our static display!
Civilian static updates include: OV-10B Bronco, two Hunter Mk.58s, Bell 'Huey' and OH-6A and an L-29 Delfin, plus many more!

Splendid stuff. I cant recall the last time a Dutch Cougar attended. 2010 maybe?

I can’t help but note that they’ve got no budget for the Wessex (or so people claim), but enough for the Bronco, Hunters, the Huey/Loach pair, the L-29 eh? All fantastic additions in their own right - I’m not bemoaning them at all, I hasten to add. I’m sure there’s probably a long and convoluted but ultimately logical answer somewhere, but it is a great shame indeed.

Genuine question, and not meaning anything by it, just would like to know.....

Does anyone have a comparison, numbers wise with the last 3 years , plus this year so far?

And are the numbers for static and flying for this years separate aircraft or include those that will, like the reds for example service a dual role of static and flying?

Cheers in advance,

That's a shame - I'd love to have a couple of Portuguese 16s back on static.

Indeed - and the Omani Hercules is always nice to see.

Incidentally - when did the Portuguese last attend? It seems like ages!

Don't ask me, my track record at dates isn't exactly brilliant :joystick: :hide:

I'm gonna guess though and say...

I don't know when it left, but 16708 was in the static display in 2014.

Maybe it just left very late after the 2013 show :dunno:

Quite possibly, maybe they also changed the serial from 16710 while they were at it.

 Jeez, what's the point of running soopa-doopa lights are gonna blind you airshow databases if you're missing attendees.

No Chris, it didn't leave very very late either. There was a scruffy one in 2013 and a shiny one in 2014 that did a super low level approach on arrival. It left on Sunday I believe to go to the static park at the other big show everyone criticises and now won't open the door to scummy punters because of the flak. Therefore avoiding part timers who only go on Monday and try and tick everything.

Just an idea I would like to see what you think of is, how would you guys feel about the putting tail traffic control on the loud speakers during arrivals and departures?

From RIAT’s Twitter:

Pre-Bank Holiday announcement! @RoyalAirForce confirm F-35B for flypasts on Friday & Saturday! We're also planning two other special flypasts for Sunday; more info to follow when we can.

I do wonder if one of the Sunday flypasts will be to do with the BA 100 celebrations. One of the BA 747’s with the reds like 2013 perhaps?
