urgent travel news by train

Post by glendale »

if your coming by train expect long delays and very busy trains/GWR have a staff shortage and already the 8.27 the 8.30 and the 8.50 from Paddington are cancelled later today very few trains are running back to Paddington on a brighter note if your traveling from Birmingham cross country trains are diverted via swindon

Managed to get a seat on the 0838 from Reading, was expecting it to be bursting at the seams.
Not looking forward to trying to get home though!

Shouldn't have worried, arrived Swindon at 0912, on the bus by 0930, at the airfield at 1010 and with zero queue at yellow walked straight in.

Going home was more problematic, had to wait a while for the shuttle back to Swindon (due to buses getting caught in traffic) but managed to get one of the few trains actually running and was back in Reading by 9!

I had the same problem as you (coming from Reading via train). The Shuttle Bus back to the station was easy for us, as we left at half 6 and caught the Typhoon from the bus queue - we actually got an amazing view of it landing from the top deck of the bus by east end of the runway, very close.

All of the trains except the 2001 were cancelled, and it arrived at 2020 - I think that was the one you probably caught too. We were waiting on that platform since around 19:15 and it slowly filled up, by 20:00 it was rammed on the platform. Getting on that train was stressful...

Oh well, at least the 0838 wasn't cancelled in the morning! Getting in was a breeze.
