Missed RIAT ! What you recommend?

Hi all

I am new here and from Ireland .
We have an airshow in the south in bray on the east coast which you guys are probably aware of . It is ok but not great , and usually has something that is unusual but nothing compared to the big shows over your way

This year I had planned to go to riat but things didn't work out as flights and ferries were very pricey for some reason.

So now the question , I will probably only make one more show this season , which one would you recommend?

I have been to leuchars when I lived in Scotland and I was at duxford last year for the July airshow.

I am a fan of warbirds particularly anything axis related and the bigger stuff
The heads I am travelling with want loud and fast full afterburner belly rumbling power.

And we would like wherever we go to have easy connection to either an airport or ferry
Last years travelling to duxford via Luton was not such a hot idea.

Any advice would be great

anyone? Is leuchars my best hope? Or is american air day worth a shot?

If Duxford was not convenient for access to ferry etc..Leuchars??? How far/long are you prepared to drive and which terminal are you coming to? That will make advice easier to offer.

Shoreham is a good show if you could get a flight into Southampton or Gatwick maybe?

I'd also recommend Shoreham or Bournemouth, both have decent rail links from airports and are great shows.

If you want a good mix, then I'd also suggest Bournemouth. Free on-the beach show, great views from the cliff-tops too.

Fly in on Friday afternoon, stay for the Saturday and most of Sunday's show, then grab the Sunday afternoon flight back into Dublin.
From the airport to the town is a very quick taxi ride. I think there may also be a bus between the two now as well?

I was either flying into Edinburgh the night before and getting a train the next day.
Or driving from cairnryan after getting in on the super early ferry arriving at 5.35

You could fly in to Southampton fri, train to Bournemouth for fri evenings display and enjoy the town. Sat get somewhere between the two piers, Saturday's show looks a tad better at the mo, with a few good displays to be added I've been told! Then early morning train Sunday to shoreham?? Two shows two towns easy access and travel links, go home Monday!

Southport, Nr Liverpool can be a decent show. You can either fly in to Liverpool or I think the ferry's still run Liverpool to Ireland and it's only around £10 entry. The Vulcan ia also booked to appear there.

Yeah shoreham and Bournemouth look great and the idea of linking them up is cool too.
But I will be in scotland that weekend (sods law)
So it might have to be leuchars

Is duxfords American air day any good or is it more ground based

Is the Duxford show in September/October not usually a very good one in terms of variety - warbirds, classics and modern (including some foreign?).
