5 crew were injured. I think their well being may be a higher priority than airshow appearences.

I still blame the south Africans for crashing the Shakleton on the way to RIAT, and the Bulgarians (?) for crashing their Il-28 4 days prior to the show too.

Bloody inconvenient for us enthusiasts, especially after we have paid out all that money

Its only metal, there was flesh and blood inside which in any sane persons book has priority.

I would imagine they will be effected if it is a technical problem with the type. They may all end up grounded until investigations are carried out.

If it was Pilot error more chance they will be ok to come.

Fingers crossed all on board are ok. As said before lives are more important than a display

Any crash is bad news, and it's worse if people are injured and a tragedy if there is loss of life. And we are worrying about its appearance at an airshow??!!

That the health condition of people is #1 priority with air crashes or other accidents should be common sense and the thread starter did not claim otherwise. Still there is no point in discussing that matter.

Of course it is interesting for people on a UK airshow board if that crash affects upcoming events.
Without disrespect to the injured crew, I see more sense in discussions about the airshow appearance of the aircraft type in question than get well soon wishes (or RIP messages in other cases) that no one of the crew or their relatives will ever read...

Talk about talking a perfectly innocent remark out of context.

I really must remember to make it clear next time, if I would prefer the crew to recover quickly or suffer a long lingering illness/death.

We are after all an aviation enthusiasts forum, for enthusiasts and if theres an incident that may prevent us from seeing, publicly a really interesting aeroplane or 2 that are booked and we're all looking forward to seeing then yeh, we may just mention it. Just to put it into persdpective. The OP posted the story and hoped the incident would not affect the planned airshow appearances. He made no other comment so made no mention of the 5 injured crew members.

Since we can have no possible idea, at this stage, whether or not air display appearances will be affected, I don't see posts in the thread as a great overreaction.

If you think that this thread has included a "tyrade of abuse", then your frame of reference maybe a little limited. I think it bodes well for the forum in general that, although we are passionate about aviation, we like to keep things in perspective and mostly realise that there are more important things in life than appearances at domestic airshows.

Surprisingly it was one of the safest aircraft in the inventory. Will be interesting to see how the stats change with this and the accident in Morocco!

Thinking of the development history of the concept it is interesting that there was a gap of nearly 30 years between the proof of concept and success of the Bell XV-3 and the (C)V-22. Anyone know why?
