Multiple biplane formation in the 80s

Multiple biplane formation in the 80s

Postby Iwishiwasapilot on Tue 31 Jul 2012, 5:51 pm

I'm hoping somebody could put my mind to rest on this subject. My earliest childhood recollection of aircraft is from, I think, the early 80s from my back garden in South Manchester. I remember being scared to death :dummy: by a formation of what I'm pretty sure was at least 10 biplanes heading towards me. I would hazard a guess that they may have been coming from Barton, as I'm sure their airshows would have been taking part then.

Does anybody recall whether there used to be such a formation of biplanes that attended airshows (or whether this was a one-off to commemorate a particular event)?

Thankfully, aircraft nowadays provide me with a much happier reaction!
