Travel advice details for anyone planning on visiting the museum on the weekend of May 10th & 11th 2014 have just been uploaded in here! This relates to the annual County Show over on the Showground – it’s also worth noting the news item has brief details of their BBMF flypast, which take place on both days.

So if you don’t like traffic you could always visit the museum this weekend – open each day of the Bank Holiday weekend 10am until 5pm (last admission at 4pm).

The new Wrecks & Relics – Edition 24 is now in stock and pre-ordered copies can now be collected from the NAM Shop.

Please remember that you don’t have to pay a museum admission fee if you just wish to make a purchase from the NAM Shop and you’re also reminded that all proceeds are covenanted to the museum.

Don’t let the indifferent weather forecast for this Bank Holiday weekend and next week’s school half-term holiday put you off from getting an aviation-fix – there’s lots to see and do inside at NAM!

You could even grab some cover if you’re planning on visiting the AEC Rally on the Showground!!

The Avro Ashton fuselage section has been moved to a new location on the museum site to provide easier access for its restoration; there are some pictures in here!

N.B. Please don’t follow the link if you think that cockpits / fuselages are stupid – I’d hate to offend!

A bit of a long shot I know, but if anyone lives close to Newark and shops in the local Waitrose, could you please consider supporting the museum’s Project Panini campaign (construction of new café & education facility), which has been selected as one of their Community Matters projects for July 2014?

Details can be found in here!

Thanks in advance!

En route to, or returning from Waddington Airshow over the next few days, and you’re looking for some aviation bargains (books, models etc.) – why not call in to the NAM Shop?

Open: 10am until 5pm (Thursday, Friday & Monday) and 8am until 7pm (Saturday & Sunday).

No need to pay an admission if you just want to shop!

Having taken on board the news from the RAF Waddington Airshow Office about their event being advanced ticket purchases only, we would like to post a final reminder that the museum has extended opening hours this weekend for the Airshow Helicopter Shuttle service.

Open: 8am until 7pm (Saturday & Sunday)

We also have a Viggen, Draken, Vulcan, MiGs etc.

Will you only have the shuttle helicopters using the museum?

We only have the helicopter shuttles due to operate from the Southfield Site as detailed here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/newsItem.php?id=849 although we sometimes get some over-flights from the wider circuits / holds at the Airshow.

Looking at the planned manifests for both Saturday and Sunday, 4 different helicopters will make a total of 10 flights to and from Waddington.

The museum itself is open as normal.

The museum has been getting a few calls from grandparents / parents looking for somewhere to take children to during the teachers strike on Thursday – I can confirm that the museum is open as normal 10am until 5pm (last admission 4pm). Plus if the forecast rain comes through don’t forget there’s lot to see inside!

The museum has just been advised of some significant road works on the A1, which are due to start in August 26th and a few more details can be found in here – we are still seeking some additional clarification on this potential closure.

This may affect travel times for anyone using the A1 to get across to RAF Coningsby for visits to see the Canadian Lancaster and to events on the Showground.
