When it's not your day!
That day when youre speeding to get somewhere faster , or your a minute late coming out of the door , youre the only car on the road and you get hit by an aeroplane.

Thoughts are with the families.

:ghost: I'm amazed there were survivors and the person in the car in front, must have kissed their lucky egg yesterday morning

Hope it's not in bad taste, but someone posted the footage on PPrune

Why on earth did they feel the need to add music to the video - to add some drama? A horrifying shot, its a miracle that anyone survived!

Truly horrible looking incident  , but staggered to see survivors walking away from the incident  .

In recent times these dashcams have brought highly sensationalist media stories to life.

Apparently 5 crashes in 10 years for this airline and they were under scutiny, be interesting to see what the cause was. That ATR is stalled so interested to see how a single engine climb out wasn't possible.

On a different note I was surprised to see a van and car drive past the taxi and debris as though nothing had happened. No stopping to help !

some pretty strong evidence over on PPRUNE that they shut down the good engine

Its both remarkable and tragic that this can happen. From a non pilots perspective, can anyone tell me: is there a VERY different warning for each engine? and if not, it would seem sensible. For example, a digital voice specific to that engine or flashing warning lights clearly on different sides of the cockpit.

When an engine fails you get a natural turn towards that failed engine, the other continues to provide power hence the swing. So one's reaction is to provide rudder input to correct, a failed left engine produces a swing to the left requiring right rudder. The saying then is 'dead leg dead engine'. So you are pushing hard with your right foot and nothing with your left, hence it is dead. Hence the left has failed. Couple that with some warning lights as to the problem engine and it is indeed surprising this can still happen.

You would have thought that safety systems would be in place so that when the pilots tried to cut an engine which, according to the readings was operating within normal parameters, all hell would break out "do you really want to cut this engine" "are you sure" "have you checked the other one?" etc etc,

its clear from this and Kegworth that pilots do cut the wrong engine so anything to make that as hard as possible
