Vulcan XH558: The Next Chapter

Vulcan XH558: The Next Chapter

Postby UK Airshow Review on Tue 09 Jun 2015, 12:24 pm

Dear UKAR Membership,

The UKAR Staff Team would like to thank the membership for its understanding during our recent discussions with VTST.

After corresponding with VTST directly, it has become clear that whilst the member that made the apparent threats was acting in good faith, it was not VTST's intention to threaten legal action against UKAR and ambiguous wording has led to some crossed wires.

VTST have apologised to us for the way the matter was handled, and moving forwards they now have a direct contact with UKAR should they feel anything in future needs our attention, which will hopefully avoid such misunderstandings re-occurring and strengthen the professional relationship between our two organisations.

In light of this, we can happily announce that the membership are free to discuss XH558 once more.

Regards

UKAR Staff

So how insane was the wing over at Scampton last week, was it as extreme as the photos tend to show?

Anyone witness it?

It was very impressive, but it wasn't quite the 180 degree angle that some photos appear to show. There is some good footage on youtube though!

Was there a pyro pass at Throckmorton too? I've heard conflicting accounts as to whether it did or not, and the livestream didn't pick it up! If that is the plan throughout the season, that could be a very impressive climax to the display if done correctly.

The livestream showed a thin trail of smoke rising from the ground behind the air ambulance which departed after the Vulcan display. I (and others watching) took that to be the Vulcan pyro aftermath but it'd be good to get clarification either way.

There were 3 very small pyro's which you couldn't even hear over the sound of the vulcan itself.

Well I missed it if there was. It was no "WAAAAAALLLLLLL OFFFFFF FFFFFFFIIIIIIRRRRRREEEE" as the Americans shout.

The display itself was just like last year as well, all very gentle, nicely flown, but nothing "wild" or "controversial" as some had been hinting at. Just make the most of her, we won't see the like again.

From where I was standing at Throckmorton (when we actually got in !), there was a fantastic howl as she ran in for her display, and another one on her run out.
It's a shame she couldn't have flown in formation with The Ravens, which is what we were hoping for.
The rest of the display was pretty much the same I thought......which is fine with me

My favourite recent thought (by someone on here - can't remember who sorry) regarding the final display season was that the team should "fly it like they stole it..." which I liked :-o

Not that I've seen , it's probably a bit early yet.......maybe there'll be something in this week's Newsbytes ??

Edited to say.....I must be psychotic ( ).....no sooner do I mention Newsbytes and today's one appears.
In it , it says Friday's Newsbytes will contain the latest on the upcoming V-Force Tour on 27th and 28th June.

Confused by this , because there are photos and a video posted on their Facebook page ( and elsewhere ) showing them flying formation with it !! https://www.facebook.com/groups/507447439369977/

She didn't fly with the Ravens at the show, they all flew away from the airfield... presumably something to do with VIPs in the back...

I thought her display at Throckmorton was alright, not the best, but certainly not the worst. She seemed a lot closer to the crowd, and had some brilliant howls, but still lacking in "oomph" compared to displays back in 2011/12.

That said, she finished with a truly tremendous climb/wingover. :joystick: :joystick:
