My friend is there and just rang me in tears, didn't see an ejection but that's not to say there wasn't one. Another friend who's parents saw the accident are stating the jet hit some lights and crashed by the Sussex Pad either on or by the A27 and some cars have been 'involved'. Awful awful news.

Seriously awful - hearts must also go out to the guys at North Weald for the second terrible accident of a based aircraft in just three weeks.

Please can I stress, before it happens - No-one is to speculate on or name the identity of the pilot involved in the incident until any official statement arises.

Shocking. I deeply hope everything turns out okay

EDIT - Quote from BBC news which I hope is true "The pilot of a Hawker Hunter has been pulled from the burning wreckage of his plane when it came down at the Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex. He is said to be recovering in hospital. It is not known if anyone else has been hurt."

That appears to be very good news, at the moment anyway. The image on the bbc news site looks nothing like a hunter and sky news are saying it's world war two era.

BBC have just posted an image. Doesn't look like a hunter to me, although it's difficult to tell what the picture is actually of

Hope all involved are ok

EDIT: appears they have changed the image now

The BBC may be speculating over his condition however there has been nothing official.

Hoping for positive news but won't speculate either way for the sake of everyone involved.

I think the image in question is from another crash, on the Isle of Wight.

Sad news, but the image being handed out isnt from this crash at all... a major fail on the press's behalf.

Sussex police have confirmed that cars have been hit on the A27, that there are several casualties and the aircraft ended up in a bush.

NOTHING else has been confirmed and is pure speculation. The behaviour of the national professional press has been despicable.
